Race 6
WITHOUT A FIGHT put his disappointing penultimate start over sixteen furlongs firmly behind him when winning his last start over nine furlongs by 1.8L, this despite overracing in the early and middle stages. He was returning from a 29-week break and a change of trainer that day and whilst facing a wide draw eleven, he should be doing his best work late.
NUMERIAN raced three wide without cover when finishing second last time out over ten furlongs, just a neck behind the winner and the form of that race has been franked. He gets a kinder draw two and should be right up there when they hit the line.
HUETOR had his consistency rewarded with a neck victory last time out over ten furlongs. The gelding will have to negotiate a wide draw ten, but he should turn in another honest performance today in looking for his seventh career victory.
Race 7
The day’s value bet, SNAPBACK has finished closer to the winner in each of his last three starts, the latest when second over seven furlongs, just a neck behind the winner. He jumped awkwardly that day and raced wide throughout, but struck the front at the 250M mark and then fought off all the late challengers in the dash down to the wire. He will have to deal with a wide gate ten, but he could prove hard to topple.
CONGREGATION has turned in two solid last runs, winning his maiden race last time out over seven furlongs, albeit by just a head. He produced a powerful finish from last place, mowing down the opposition over the closing stages, suggesting that the extra ground will be to his liking. From draw six, the colt should be right up there when they hit the line.
CIFRADO has won two of his last four outings and goes for his hat-trick after victories over six furlongs and the latest over a seven furlongs by a neck. He was slow away in that event and hampered shortly after the start, before having to ease at the 600M mark and shifting in from the 200M pole, so that effort was full of merit. He had to survive an objection lodged by the sixth-place finisher for that movement before ultimately being declared the winner and from one gate outside the latter, he should be included in all bets.
Race 8
THINK ABOUT IT is an eight-time winner from just nine starts, finishing third in the other, so clearly, he has some ability. His latest victory came over 1300M by 0.8L after racing three wide throughout, but kicking clear of the opposition at the 100M mark to record a more comfortable victory than the official margin suggests. He will have to overcome a wide draw 12, but he looks to be the one that they all have to beat.
HAWAII FIVE OH has won his last two starts over this journey the latest by 0.8L notwithstanding having to be held up at the top of the home straight. From his kinder draw three, the trio is very much on the cards.
CONVERGE is the stable companion to the latter and bounced back to form after a poor penultimate effort in his penultimate start over a mile in very heavy going, which he did not enjoy, when ending up in second spot, 0.8L behind the winner. That was also in a Group 1 event and although drawn wide in gate seventeen, he is likely to be dropped out of it in the early stages and then start to pick off the front runners over the latter part of the race and makes a solid back-up for the yard.
Race 9
OPAL RIDGE has won two of her last four outings, the latest over 1300M by one and a half lengths. She hit the front at the 200M mark in that contest and the result was never in doubt from that point. She faces a wide draw twelve, but that may not stop her recording her seventh career win and as such, she is taken to be the best bet on the day’s card.
SALATEEN is seldom far off the action and raced wide throughout before finishing third last time out over six furlongs, 0.8L back from the winner. She jumps from gate six and could emerge as the biggest threat to the top pick.
Her stablemate, COMRADE ROSA has won three of her last four starts, the latest over six furlongs by 0.8L. She has a useful draw four and will have her peak run after returning from a 12-week rest and is a useful backup for the yard.
