Race 6

HEDGED has consistent formlines to his name, winning three of his ten starts to date and finishing third last time out over 1200M, three lengths behind the winner, but he jumped awkwardly that day and overraced in the middle stages, so he had his excuses. He has a wideish draw eight, but he looks to be the one that they all must beat and as such, he is taken to be the best bet on the day’s card.

GOLDEN DECADE has cracked pole position and won over 1300M three runs back, finished sixth in his penultimate start over 1300M and then fourth in his latest outing over 1400M, two and a half lengths behind the winner. The form of that race has however stood up well with two runners out of that contest subsequently winning and he could be the biggest threat to the top pick.

MISS ARIA is a 3-year-old filly taking on the boys, but she goes for her hat-trick after two victories over 1400M, the latest by a length, despite being slow away and coming four wide into the home straight. She finished off her race strongly that day and whilst drawn wide in gate ten, she should be doing her best work late to be involved in the finish.

Race 7

The day’s value bet, LUNCIES has finished closer to the winner in each of his last three starts, the latest when fifth over 1800M (G3), just under three and a half length adrift of the winner, but he was bumped on the home turn on that occasion, before staying on stoutly over the latter stages, suggesting that the extra ground on offer here will be to his advantage. The gelding has a handy draw four and will be hoping to chalk up his seventh career victory.

DUNE FORTY FIVE finished a disappointing sixth last time out over 2400M (G3), 10.3L off the winner, but he raced wide throughout that day, before finishing well from some way back and the form of that race has been franked. The gelding is drawn one inside the former and should be right up there when they hit the line.

ZOUMON was returning from a 21-week break when finishing tenth in his latest outing over 1800M, just over seven lengths back from the winner and has finished third in a subsequent barrier trial. He has pulled a wideish gate eight, but nevertheless, he should be included in all bets.

Race 8

WATEGOS followed up his penultimate run victory over 1300M with a second-place finish next time out over 1350M, 0.8L back from the winner, but had to be held up approaching the home turn in that event. The gelding is sure to put his pole position to good use.

BLAZE A TRAIL has his first run for his new trainer and returns from a 49-week spell, but has had the benefit of having had two barrier trials. He also has his hat-trick run after wins over 1350m and the latest over 1400M by 0.8L and the fact that his connections have brought him back into racing after such a lengthy absence would seem to suggest that they believe that he still has something more to offer them.

JIGSAW finished third in his last two starts, the latest over 1200M (G2), just under four lengths back from the winner, but he overraced in the early and middle stages in that event. The gelding is drawn the widest of them all in gate fourteen, but he should use his early gate speed to move across without expending too much energy.

Race 9

This looks to be a tricky F&M Handicap to end off the day’s Jackpot, with plenty of runners in with a realistic chance of finding the winner’s box, so some caution is suggested. MIDNIGHT IN TOKYO won her penultimate start over 1200M and then finished third next time out over the same sprint trip, just over a half lengths off the winner, but she came four wide into the home straight and hung in over the closing stages. She faces a wide draw nine, but she will be hoping to bounce back to winning ways today.

PARTY FOR TWO won over 1200M three runs back, finished third in her penultimate start over 1000M and then fifth in her latest outing over 1100M, just over two and a half lengths behind the winner and has won a subsequent barrier trial. She tried to go from jump to wire that day and from her wideish draw eleven, she is likely to attempt similar frontrunning tactics today.

EAGLE NEST is seldom far off the action and struck the front at the entrance to the home stretch before being collared late to end up in fifth place last time out over 1100M, just over three lengths behind the winner. From her kinder draw two, she should not be easily overlooked.
