Race 7

MILITARIZE is a three-time Group 1 winner and has finished second in his last two starts, the latest over a mile in a Group 1 event, beaten just a short-head, this after coming three wide into the home straight. He finished off his race well, only to fail in the shadow of the post. The colt gets gate seven and is taken to be the value bet on the day’s card.

THINK ABOUT IT won The Everest over six furlongs three runs back, finished second in his penultimate start over 1300M and then second again last time out over a same 1300M (Group 1), just 1,3L behind the winner, when returning from an 18-week break. He delivered a powerful finish from some way back in that contest and from a wide gate seventeen, he is likely to be dropped out of it in the early stages and then start to pick off the front runners over the latter part of the race.

VEIGHT has consistent formlines to his name and was slow away, overraced in the early and middle stages, but stayed on well to end up in second place last time out over a mile (Group 1) event, 1.3L back from the victor. The colt finished off his race well that day and from a wideish gate eight, he should be doing his best work late.

Race 8

STORM BOY has won all four of his starts to date in impressive fashion, the latest over six furlongs (Group 2) by one and a half lengths. He shooed plenty of toe that day and comfortably held off the opposition in the dash down to the wire. From his handy draw two, he will be looking to add a Group 1 event onto his list of successes.

His biggest danger may come in the form of SWITZERLAND who has been just as imposing in his three out of three victories, the latest over six furlongs (Group 2) by a length, this despite being bumped at the start and coming three wide into the home stretch, before finishing the best for a well-timed win. He jumps from gate seven and should complete the exacta.

LADY OF CAMELOT is a filly taking on the boys, but she won her penultimate start over 1100M (Group 3) and then took the lead at the 300M pole, only to be nabbed late when finishing second next time out over six furlongs (Group 1), just a head off the winner. She has won a subsequent barrier trial and from draw five, she should not be lightly dismissed.

Race 9

This looks to be a tricky race with plenty of runners in with a realistic chance of finding the winner’s box, so some caution is suggested. SUNSHINE IN PARIS is a 4-year-old filly taking on males, but she does go for her hat-trick after victories over seven furlongs and the latest over six furlongs (Group 2) by a length. She returns from a 29-week spell, but has had the benefit of two barrier trials. The filly has pulled a useful draw two and the trio is very much on the cards.

AFT CABIN was returning from a 39-week spell and was held up between the 400m and 100M mark, but finished strongly to end up in fifth spot in his latest outing over five furlongs (Group 2), just under a length behind the victor. He will have to negotiate draw eight, but he should be right up there when they hit the line.

OZZMOSIS has won four of his five starts to date and finished third in the other, so clearly, he has some ability. His latest victory coming over six furlongs (Group 1) by 1.3L, notwithstanding jumping awkwardly. He recovered quickly to pick up the lead and then held off the chasing pack to claim the victory. The colt faces a wide draw thirteen and returns from a 12-week rest, but he has won his fist and finished second in his two barrier trials to showcase his well-being.

Race 10

The day’s best bet, OLENTIA is a five-time winner from eleven starts and was returning from a 16-week absence when finishing second last time out over six furlongs (Group 3), just under a half-length behind the winner, but she had nothing go her way that day. She jumped awkwardly bumping another runner, was crowded at the 1000M mark, was held up between the 300M and 200M mark, before finally being bumped at the 200m pole. The resultant objection against the winner for that interference was however overruled and the original result was allowed to stand. She has pulled gate six and could give the trainer/jockey combination of Chris Waller and James McDonald their second winner in the day’s Jackpot, should the top pick win the opening leg.

C’EST MAGIQUE is seldom far off the action, finishing second last time out over six furlongs, just a length back from the winner. She finished 0.4L behind the former in her penultimate start over six furlongs and is 0.5kgs better off at today’s weights, so there should not be much separating the pair when they reach the finishing post, but she does have a wide gate ten to deal with.

TASHI has won two of his last three runs, the latest victory coming over six furlongs by a length. She struck the front at the 100M mark and managed to hold on to claim the win, despite losing a shoe in running. She has drawn a cosy gate four and should be involved in the finish.
