Race 4.

CHIX CHATTER has finished second in his last three starts, the latest over 1100M, 2.3L behind the winner, when returning from a 32 week break. He was slow away that day and came six wide into the home straight, costing himself valuable ground. He has drawn gate six and will be looking to go one better today and chalk up his third career victory.

DARK PEAK is a 5yr old mare taking on the boys and finished tenth last time out over six furlongs, 4.8L back from the winner, but the form of that race has stood up well with two runners out of that contest subsequently winning. She does return from a 20 week break and has not had the benefit of a barrier trial, so her fitness will have to be taken on trust and will also be having her first run for her new trainer. If fully settled into her new surroundings, she should give a good account of herself here.

GUNS OF NAVARONE stayed on well when sixth last time out over six furlongs, 5.8L adrift of the victor, but he gets a handy draw two and will have 2kgs taken off his back thanks to his claiming apprentice.

Race 5.

The day’s value bet, COPPING POINTS overraced and hung in down the home straight, but still managed to find a strong finish to end up in third place last time out over seven furlongs, just over six lengths off the winner. He gets a useful gate two and should be right up there when they hit the line. BE SEATED shifted out from the 100M mark when finishing just a half length behind the winner last time out over six furlongs, so can be considered an unlucky loser. He is drawn one outside the top choice and could be his biggest danger.

ROEY CLAM has won two out of his last three runs, the latest over seven furlongs by 1.3l. He struck the front at the 150M pole that day to win going away. The gelding jumps from draw six and should turn in another honest performance today.

Race 6.

CELEVACCI has cracked pole position and has put in two solid last runs, the latest, although recorded as sixth over seven furlongs, was only 1.7L behind the winner. It should however be noted that he came five wide approaching the home turn in that contest and then hung in down the straight, but was still able to deliver a powerful finish and the form of that race has been franked. He has his peak run after returning from a 27 week break and could prove hard to topple. As such, he is made the best bet on the day’s card.

YANGTZE RAPIDS put his disappointing penultimate run behind him when finishing third last time out over seven furlongs, 3.8L adrift of the winner, when returning from a 21 week break. He again returns from another 21 week rest, but did finish second in his only barrier trial to showcase his well-being.

ARABIAN RICHES resumes from a slightly longer 23 week absence and has finished third in his only barrier trial. He did not quite see out the 1900M of his last outing, finishing fourth, 3.2 lengths behind the winner and from one gate outside the latter, he is likely to do better over what appears to be a more suitable trip.

Race 7.

SHAKE BABY SHAKE went from jump to wire to win his last start over six furlongs by 0.8L. He will have 2kgs removed from his allocated weight courtesy of his claiming apprentice and from pole position, he may prove to be too speedy for this field to give trainer Adam Durrant the last two legs of the day’s Jackpot.

SLY AS A FOX was crowded at the 800M mark and then forced five wide into the home stretch when finishing third last time out over 1100M, 5.8L behind the winner and was immediately rested for 23 weeks. He returns here without having had a barrier trial, but from a cozy gate three and with him having 3kgs taken off his back for the services of his claiming apprentice, he should not be lightly overlooked.

NORTHERN RULER overraced in the middle stages, causing his saddle to slip when eventually ending up on seventh spot last time out over seven furlongs. 5.2L behind the winner, so a line should be drawn through that effort. He returns from a shorter 19 week spell and has also not had a barrier trial, but from draw four, he should be included in all bets.
