Race 5

Two 4-year-old fillies could fight out the finish to this race and complete the exacta, but NEWS BOUND is taken to lead the field home. She won her debut over 1200M by putting 5.3L between herself and the opposition, striking the front at the 200M mark to record a facile victory. From her handy draw three, she will be hoping to make it two from two.

NOT WRITTEN OFF was returning from a 36-week break and having her first run for her new trainer when finishing fifth last time out over 950M, 3.7L behind the winner, but she jumped awkwardly to find herself towards the back of the field that day, but made good late progress over the closing stages. On that effort, she should appreciate the extra ground on offer here. She is drawn one outside the top pick and should be right up there when they hit the line.

ONE MORE THING has cracked pole position and has finished second in two of his last three runs, the latest over 1000M, two and a half lengths behind the winner. He sat just behind the pace that day and then stayed on well over the latter stages and will hoping to go one better today.

Race 6

EXOTIC DANCER is a 3-year-old filly taking on the boys, but she won over 1200M first time out and then finished fourth in her next outing over 1400M, five and a half lengths back from the winner, but it should be noted that she was bumped at the start, had to be held up until the 350M mark and then hung in all the way down the home straight. The form of that race has however been franked and she would have come on further with that run under her belt. She has pulled a useful gate three and is taken to be the day’s value bet.

BOTTOM BAR has finished closer to the winner in each of his last three starts, the latest when third over 1000M, just a head behind the victor, when having his first run for his new trainer. The gelding tried to go from jump to wire that day and was only snared late. From his wide draw eleven, he is likely to attempt similar frontrunning tactics today. He will also get a set of blinkers fitted for the first time and if these have the desired effect, she should be a big runner here.

SHAQUILA is seldom far off the action, finishing fifth last time out over 1100M, 2.7L back from the winner, but he was crowded shortly after the start in that event, but stayed on well over the latter stages. The gelding jumps from gate seven and should turn in another honest performance today.

Race 7

The day’s best bet, TOO MUCH CAVIAR is a five-time winner who won his last start over 1500M by a half-length at a stronger centre. He kicked clear of the opposition at the 200M pole that day and then kept going courageously. The gelding has his peak run after returning from a 29-week spell and whilst drawn the widest of them all in gate eleven, he should use his early gate speed to move across without expending too much energy.

JAMBEROO went from gun to tape to win his last start over 1550M by two lengths at a stronger centre and when having his first run for his new trainer. The form of that race has stood up well with two runners out of that contest subsequently winning. The gelding has finished second in a subsequent barrier trial and despite a wideish gate eight, he could be the biggest threat to the top pick.

BELLEISTIC KIDS finished well from some way back to win his last start over 1400M by 0.8L and from gate five, he should be involved in the finish.

Race 8

COMPELLING TRUTH has won five of his last six starts, the latest after showing plenty of toe to win by one and a half lengths over 1200M. That was also at a stronger centre and from his cosy draw four and with 1.5kgs removed from his allocated weight courtesy of his claiming apprentice, he will be hoping to keep that winning sequence going.

SHARP SHOCK finished sixth in his latest outing over 1200M, 3.3L off the winner, but he was slow away on that occasion and then did not get the clearest of passages in the home straight, only seeing daylight at the 200M mark, before finishing off his race well. The gelding has pulled a wideish gate eight, but with better luck in running, he should keep the top choice honest.

RAJNISH has consistent formlines to his name, finishing second last time out over 1400M, just 0.8L off the winner. He is sure to put his pole position to good use and turn in another solid performance today.
