Race 5

Two 4-year-old fillies could fight out the finish to this race and complete the exacta, but CAPITAL EXPRESS is taken to lead the field home. She was slow away, but made good late progress when showing solid improvement to finish sixth last time out over seven furlongs, 1.8L behind the winner and on that effort, she should appreciate the extra ground on offer here. From her handy draw three, she will be hoping to secure her fourth career victory today.

HOWLING VICTORY had finished second twice prior to ending up in seventh place last time out over a mile, just under two and a half lengths behind the winner. She raced just behind the leader in that event, before staying on well over the closing stages. The filly jumps from gate six and should be right up there when they hit the line.

TILLMAN has cracked pole position and finished well from some way off the pace to end up in fourth place last time out over nine furlongs, 3.8L back from the winner. The gelding should be included in all bets.

Race 6

EVERIDO is seldom far off the action, finishing fifth last time out over seven furlongs, just over a length back from the winner, but that was at a stronger centre. He finished off his race well that day and from a wide gate twelve, he should be doing his best work late.

DUNLOE went from jump to wire to win his last start over seven furlongs by a head and the form of that race has been franked. The gelding has pulled draw six and should be considered a big runner in this line-up.

TOES IN THE WATER is a 3-year-old filly taking on males, but she missed out on her hat-trick after two victories over seven furlongs when finishing third last time out when dropping down to six furlongs, two lengths behind the winner, but she had to check at the 200M mark, so can be considered an unlucky loser. She has a useful gate two and will have 2kgs taken off her back thanks to her claiming apprentice and will be looking to make amends today.

Race 7

The day’s value bet, ANILLA finished strongly from well off the pace to end up in fourth spot last time out over seven furlongs, just under two lengths back from the victor and that was at a stronger centre. The gelding will have to negotiate a wide draw eleven, but he will be having his peak run after returning from a 16-week break and is likely to be dropped out of it in the early stages and then start to pick off the front runners over the latter part of the race.

CANNY HELL has won two of his last four starts, the latest over seven furlongs by 0.8L and has won a subsequent barrier trial. He struck the front at the top of the home straight in that event and despite hanging out down the home straight, he secured the victory. The gelding has a useful draw three and should keep the top choice honest.

THE PRODIGAL SON had consistent formlines to his name prior to finishing eleventh last time out over six furlongs, just over six lengths adrift of the winner, when returning from a 22-week spell. That was at a stronger centre and from one gate inside the latter, he will be hoping to bounce back to some of his better form today.

Race 8

COMMUNICATION had finished third in her three runs prior to ending up in sixth place last time out over 1500M, 4.7L behind the winner. She tried to go from gun to tape that day and was only run out of it late, suggesting that the drop in trip will be to her liking. The filly jumps from gate six and is likely to attempt similar frontrunning tactics today and is taken to be the best bet on the day’s card.

LETME ENTERTAINYOU has finished closer to the winner in each of her last three starts, the latest when fifth over six furlongs, three and a half lengths back from the winner, but she overraced three wide throughout that day, costing herself valuable ground. She does have a wideish gate eight to deal with, but she could emerge as the biggest threat to the top pick.

NAUTICO showed marked improvement to win her last start over six furlongs by 0.8L, when returning from a 39-week break and having her first run for her new trainer. She kicked clear at the 200M pole to win going away that day and although drawn wide in gate eleven, she should be doing her best work late to be involved in the finish.
