Race 4

RAJNISH has finished closer to the winner in each of his last three starts, the latest when fourth over 1500M, two and a half lengths behind the winner, but he raced three wide throughout that day and that was at a stronger centre. The form of that race has however stood up well with two runners out of that contest subsequently winning. The gelding gets a wideish gate eight, but he will be hoping to chalk up his fourth career victory and is taken to be the best bet on the day’s card.

SIZZLE MINIZZLE had solid form prior to finishing eleventh last time out over 1400M, 10.3L adrift of the winner, but that was in heavy going, which was not to his liking, and he raced four wide without cover. He has a handy draw four and gets cheek pieces re-fitted for the day’s run. If this move has the desired effect, he should be a big runner here, with 2kgs taken off his back thanks to his claiming apprentice.

AIMPOINT has consistent formlines to his name and followed up his penultimate run victory over 2100M with a seventh-place finish next time out over 1600M, 5.2L back from the winner, but he did not get the clearest of passages in the home straight that day, only seeing daylight at the 250M mark, before finishing off his race well. The gelding is drawn the widest of them all in gate eleven, but nevertheless, he should be involved in the finish.

Race 5

The day’s value bet, SPORTS PAGE is a 4-year-old filly taking on the boys, but she won her last start over 1300M by putting 4.3L between herself and the opposition. She struck the front at the 200M mark to win comfortably and from gate five, she will be looking for her third career victory.

SHEN GUI won his penultimate start over 1300M and then tried to go from jump to wire when ending up in thirteenth place last time out over 1450M, 26.6L adrift of the winner. He is drawn one inside the top choice and should do much better dropping down to what appears to be a more suitable distance.

SKYFORGER was trapped five wide without cover and understandably has nothing to come over the closing stages when finishing eighth in his latest outing over 1300M, 7.3L back from the winner. He has cracked pole position and will be hoping to bounce back to winning ways here.

Race 6

AQUARTER has consistent formlines to his name and followed up his penultimate run victory over 1000M with a third-place finish next time out over the same sprint trip, one and a half lengths back from the winner. He made good late progress that day and from draw five and with 2kgs removed from his allocated weight courtesy of his claiming apprentice, he looks to be the one to side with here. The gelding will also be having his peak run after returning from a 20-week break.

CASTLEBAR ROAD goes for his hat-trick after victories over 900M and the latest over 800M by a length and a half. He raced just behind the speed in that event and then kicked clear of the field at the entrance to the home straight. The gelding jumps from a useful gate three, will be having his peak run after returning from a longer 28-week spell and gets the services of a 2kg claiming apprentice.

YIRRKALA is a 4-year-old filly taking on males, but she won her penultimate start over 1000M and then finished eighth in her next outing over 1100M, three lengths off the winner, but that was at a stronger centre. She chased hard on that occasion and from one gate inside the latter, she should be included in all bets.

Race 7

This looks to be a tricky race to end off the day’s Jackpot with plenty of runners in with a realistic chance of finding the winner’s box, so some caution is suggested. CHICO CASINO won over 1200M three runs back, finished third in his penultimate start over 1400M and then third again in his latest outing over 1200M, two and a half lengths adrift of the winner. He returns from an 18-week break without having had the benefit of a barrier trial, so his fitness will have to be taken on trust, but he should enjoy the drop in distance.

CHARGE AWAY is a 4-year-old filly taking on boys, but she had finished second three times in a row before winning her maiden race last time out over 1200M, albeit by just a short-head. She gets 1.5kg taken off her back thanks to her claiming apprentice and does take on stronger here, but from her cosy draw three, she may well be up to the task at hand.

ALWAYS A SAINT had to weave his way through traffic in the home straight when ending up in sixth spot last time out over 1100M, just under six and a half lengths behind the winner, so he had his excuse. The gelding is drawn one outside the latter and should be right up there when they hit the line.
