Race 4

COSTAWAY has finished closer to the winner in each of his last three runs, the latest when second over a mile, just a short-head behind the victor. He delivered a powerful finish that day, despite hanging out down the home straight and from a wide draw nine, he should be doing his best work late.

BRING A DAME is a 5yr old mare taking on the boys. She was slow away and over raced in the early stages when finishing seventh last time out over a mile, just over nine and a half lengths adrift of the winner. She gets the blinkers removed for the first time and if this move has the desired effect, she should be a big runner here, jumping from a handy draw two.

JACK THE BRUMBY won over ten furlongs three runs back, then disappointed when dropping down to six furlongs in his penultimate outing but bounced back to end up in third place when returning to a more suitable mile, two lengths behind the winner. He tried to go from jump to wire that day and from gate six and with having 3kgs taken off his back thanks to his claiming apprentice, he should be included in all bets.

Race 5

RUBAN BLEU followed up his penultimate run victory over seven furlongs with an eighth-place finish next time out over the same journey, three and a half lengths back from the winner, but he was slow away that day. The gelding jumps from gate six and looks to be the one to side with here.

MILAMOO is an 8yr old mare taking on males, but she has turned in two solid last performances, the latest when fourth over a mile, just under one and a half lengths back from the winner. She came three wide into the home straight on that occasion, but stayed on well over the closing stages. She gets a useful gate four and should be right up there when they hit the line.

TULLYS GOLD won his penultimate start over a mile and then overraced in the middle stages when ending up in fourth spot last time out over the same journey, 3.7L adrift of the victor, but the form of that race has been franked. He jumps from gate seven and should not be easily overlooked.

Race 6

NAMID is a 3yr old filly taking on boys, but she won by a neck when making her debut over five furlongs and the form of that race has been franked, so she could be just about anything. She raced just behind the leaders that day and then struck the front at the top of the home straight, before holding off all the late challengers in the dash down to the wire. The manner in which finished off her race was encouraging and from a cozy draw four and with having 1.5kgs removed from her allocated weight courtesy of her claiming apprentice, she is taken to be the best bet on the day’s card.

ROYSTON HEAD has only had the three runs to date and had his consistency rewarded with a one length victory last time out over five furlongs. He showed plenty of toe that day and from one gate outside the top choice and with a greater 2kgs taken off his back for the services of his claiming apprentice, the gelding could prove to be the biggest threat to the top pick.

EASTERN BREEZE is a 5yr old mare who is looking for her hat-trick after two wins over this sprint trip, albeit the latest by just a short-head when finishing well to get up in the shadow of the post. She will have to negotiate draw nine, but she should start to pick off the front runners over the latter part of the race.

Race 7

The day’s value bet, KAPPY’S ANGEL is a 5yr old mare bumping males, but she has her hat-trick run after wins over 1300M and latest over six furlongs by 0.8L, both at this track. She battled all the way down to the wire for that victory and whilst facing a wide gate nine, she will get 1.5kgs taken off her back thanks to her claiming apprentice. She should use her early gate speed to move across without expending too much energy and the trio is very much on the cards.

OUR LAST CASH jumped awkwardly and over raced in the early stages, but still managed to win his last start over seven furlongs by a half-length. The gelding will have to overcome a wider draw twelve, but he is a speedy sort who should be able to work his way across without using up too much gas.

UNIQUE PRINCE is seldom far off the action, finishing second last time out over 1300, 2.8L back from the winner, but he came from some way back that day and had to weave his way through traffic in the home stretch, so he should have finished closer to the winner than he is officially recorded. The gelding overraced in the early stages in that contest and from his kinder draw five, he should turn in another honest performance today.
