Race 5

RAMPAZETTO is a 2-year-old colt taking on older horses, but he has only had two runs to date, finishing sixth on debut over 1200M and then fourth next time out over 1400M, 2.3L behind the winner. He did not get the clearest of passages in the home straight that day, only seeing daylight at the 200M mark before finishing off his race well. He would have come on further with that run under his belt and from gate six, he is made the value bet on the day’s card.

RATHORAN has finished third in two of his last three outings, the latest over 1400M, just a neck back from the winner, but he was slow away that day, before making good late progress over the closing stages to just fail to reel in the victor. The gelding gets a handy draw three and should be right up there when they hit the line.

BERTIE is seldom far off the action and jumped awkwardly bumping another runner, but recovered quickly to pick up the lead, only to end up in fourth place last time out over 1600M, just under two and a half lengths off the winner. He has a wideish draw eight, but he should appreciate the drop in trip.

Race 6

Three 3-year-old fillies could fight out the finish to this race and complete the trifecta, but IN MY DREAMS is taken to lead the field home. She won over 1000M three runs back, finished fourth in her penultimate start over 1100M and then third in her latest outing over 1000M, just over a half-length behind the winner, but she came four wide into the home straight that day and bumped another runner at the 250M mark. The filly is drawn wide in gate thirteen, but she should be doing her best work late.

WILLINGALE has cracked pole position and has finished closer to the winner in each of her last three starts, the latest when second over 1000M, just a neck, but it should be noted that she was hampered at the 200M mark, so can be considered an unlucky loser. She will be having her peak run after returning from a 22-week break and will have 3kgs taken off her back thanks to her claiming apprentice.

NO SECOND THOUGHTS has consistent formlines to her name and followed up her penultimate run victory over 1200M with a fourth-place finish next time out over the same sprint trip, 1.3L back from the winner, this after overracing in the early stages. The filly has pulled gate seven and should be included in all bets.

Race 7

As with the previous race, fillies could dominate the finish to this race, but in this case, the top three are all 4-year-old fillies. FOURTH SPARGO battled all the way down to the wire when finishing second in her latest outing over 1100M, 2.3L off the winner, suggesting that the extra ground on offer here will be to her liking. She has her peak run for her new trainer and after returning from a 49-week spell. The filly jumps from gate six and is taken to be the best bet on the day’s card.

MISS CARTEL goes for her hat-trick after victories over 1300M and the latest over 1200M by 0.8L. She went from jump to wire that day and from pole position, she is likely to attempt similar frontrunning tactics today to emerge as the biggest danger to the top pick.

CONSENZA has posted two solid last runs and was slow away but ran on well when putting 2.3L between herself and the opposition to win her last start over 1200M. She is drawn one outside the latter and should be involved in the finish.

Race 8

Once again, mares and fillies could secure the trifecta in this contest, but the 5-year-old mare. CUPID’S KISS could prove to be the best. She followed up her penultimate run victory over 1000M with a second place finish next time out over the same c&d, one and a half lengths back from the winner, but she had to be eased at the 800M pole that day, before staying on well over the closing stages. The mare is drawn wideish in gate eight, but on the plus side, she will have 4kg removed from her allocated weight courtesy of her claiming apprentice.

SIMPLY BETTER also won her penultimate start over 1000M and was then slow away and hampered shortly after the start when ending up in third spot last time out over 1000M, 2.3L back from the victor. She has pulled gate six and will have the services of a 1.5kg claiming apprentice.

GOLDEN COW is yet another who won her penultimate outing, but this time over 1100M and then finished tenth in her next start over 1000M, 8.3L adrift of the victor, but she tried to go from gun to tape on that occasion, before being run out of it close to home. She has a useful draw two and will have 4kgs taken off her back thanks to her claiming apprentice.
