Race 5

Two 3-year-old fillies could fight out the finish to this race and complete the exacta, but the day’s best bet, GAN TEORAINN is taken to lead the field home. Although recorded as finishing fourteenth last time out over a mile, she was just 3.2L behind the winner and that was in a Group 3 event. She was returning from an 18-week break that day and stayed on well over the closing stages. The form of that race has stood up well with two runners out of that contest subsequently winning and from her handy draw three, she will be hoping to chalk up her second career victory here.

STREET GOSSIP tried to go from jump to wire when ending up in ninth place last time out over 1500M, just under six lengths back from the victor, but that was in a Group 2 contest. The filly is drawn one outside the top pick and is likely to attempt similar frontrunning tactics today.

PERVADE is the stable companion of the top choice and was returning from a 19-week rest when finishing eighth in his latest outing over seven furlongs, 3.7L off the winner. He would have come on further with that run under his belt and from one gate outside the latter, he makes a solid back-up for the powerful Chris Waller yard.

Race 6

EYE OF THE FIRE showed plenty on toe on win on debut over six furlongs, putting 7.8L between himself and the opposition. The gelding faces stronger here, and will have to negotiate a wide draw twelve, but he should use his early gate speed to move across without expending too much energy.

SLINKY is a 3-year-old filly facings the boys, but she on the other hand has cracked pole position and has won two of her last three runs and finished second in the other, the latest victory coming over six furlongs by two lengths. She has her peak run after returning from a 22-week break and is a speedy sort who could prove difficult to reel in over the latter stages.

RAPIDO had his consistency rewarded with his maiden victory last time out over six furlongs by 430L. He returns from a 25-week spell, but has had the benefit of two barrier trials, finishing second in both to showcase his well-being. Jumping from gate seven, he should be included in all bets.

Race 7

The day’s value bet, NEGOTIATIONS missed out on his hat-trick after two victories over five furlongs, when finishing tenth last time out over the same sprint trip, 8.3L behind the winner, but he jumped awkwardly in that contest before finishing well from too far back. The gelding is sure to put his pole position to good use and will be hoping to bounce back to winning ways here.

MISS HADES is a 3-year-old filly taking on males, but she has won two of her last three outings, the latest over six furlongs by a half-length. She struck the front at the 250M mark to win going away and returns here after a 21-week absence, but has had two barrier trials, winning the latest. She faces a wide draw eleven, but she should use her early gate speed to move across without expending too much gas.

BIOGRAPHER has consistent formlines to his credit and raced three wide throughout, but battled all the way down to the wire when ending up in fourth spot last time out over 1100M, 1.7L behind the winner. The gelding gets a far kinder gate two and should not be easily overlooked.

Race 8

HELLCIBELL has won three of her last four starts, the latest over 1100M by a half-length. She raced just behind the leader and then then kicked clear at the 200M pole, before holding off all the late challengers in the dash down to the wire. She will have to deal with a wide gate thirteen, but she has her peak run after returning from a 23-week absence and should turn in another honest performance today.

WAIKIKI is seldom far off the action, finishing third last time out over 1100M, 1.2L back from the winner, but she jumped awkwardly in that event and had to be held up between the 400M and 250M mark, so she had her excuses. She has her peak run after returning from a shorter 20-week rest and whilst drawn wide in gate nine, she should be right up there when they hit the line.

MEMORIA won over 1100M three runs back, finished third in her penultimate start over six furlongs and then seventh in her latest outing over the same six furlongs, 3.2L behind the winner and the form of that race has been franked. She stayed on well in that event and jumping from gate five and with her having 3kgs taken off her back thanks to her claiming apprentice, she should be viewed as a big runner in this line-up.
