Race 4

MAWJOOD has only had three runs to date and followed up his penultimate run victory over 1100M with a second-place finish next time out over 1200M, just under a length back from the winner. He battled all the way down to the wire that day and has finished seventh in a subsequent barrier trial. From draw seven and with non-claiming apprentice, Zac Lloyd, son of ex-SA champion jockey, Jeff Lloyd in the irons, he is made the best bet on the day’s card.

HI DUBAI is a 5-year-old mare taking on the boys, but she has consistent formlines to her name and followed up her penultimate run victory over 1100M with a fourth-place finish next time out over 1200M, 1.7L behind the winner. She struck the front at the 200M mark, only to be run out of it late. The mare has a handy draw four and could emerge as the biggest danger to the top pick.

CHIEF CONDUCTOR jumped awkwardly bumping another runner and was reported to have lost a near-hind shoe when finishing third last time out 1000M, 4.3L back from the winner. He is drawn in gate six and should be involved in the finish.

Race 5

THE ENGLISHMAN jumped awkwardly, bumping another runner and had to be held up at the top of the home straight when ending up in seventh place last time out over 1900M, 4.7L off the victor, so he had his excuses. The gelding gets a wideish draw eight, but nevertheless looks to be the one that they all must beat.

LUCONI won over 1200M three runs back, finished second in his penultimate start over 1500M and then fourth when chasing hard all the way down to the wire in his latest outing over 1800M, 2.7L behind the winner. From his kinder gate five, he should be right up there when they hit the line.

GO TROPPO was held tight at the 500M pole, but stayed on well over the latter stages when finishing second in his latest outing over 1800M, two lengths adrift of the winner and the form of that race has been franked. He jumps from a wide draw ten, but he should not be lightly dismissed.

Race 6

The day’s value bet, FLYING DESTINY jumped awkwardly but recovered quickly to take up the lead and then fought off all the late challengers in the dash down to the wire to win his last start over 1200M by 1.3L. The gelding gets a useful draw four and will have 3kgs taken off his back thanks to his claiming apprentice.

TAVS jumped awkwardly and had to be held up at the entrance to the home stretch when finishing fifth last time out over 1500M, two lengths behind the winner and the form of that race has been franked. The gelding returns from a 19-week break, but has had two barrier trials, finishing third in the first and fourth in the latest. He has pulled gate seven and will be looking to chalk up his fourth career victory today.

THE REPLICANT was bumped shortly after the start, but stayed on well to finish third last time out over 1500M, 3.8L adrift of the victor. He is drawn the widest of them all in gate eleven, but he gets a set of blinkers re-fitted and if this move has the desired effect, he should be a big runner here.

Race 7

IT’S A KNOCKOUT is a 4-year-old filly taking on males, but she has only had two runs, winning on debut over 1400M and then finishing second next time out over the same trip, just a neck behind the winner, when trying to go from jump to wire. She would have come on further with that run under her belt and from her cosy draw four, she is likely to attempt similar frontrunning tactics today to give Zac Lloyd his second winner in the day’s Jackpot.

NOBLE CONQUEROR has consistent formlines to his credit and made good late progress to just fail to overhaul the frontrunner in the shadow of the post to finish second last time out over 1400M, beaten just a short-head. The gelding is drawn one inside the top choice and seems likely to turn in another honest performance here.

HIGH DANDY showed marked improvement when going from gun to tape to win his last start over 1500M by putting 6.8L between himself and the opposition. He was returning from an 18-week spell on that occasion and from one gate inside the latter, he should be included in all bets.
