Race 4

ALLAPERCANTO was bumped at the 400M mark and had to be held up until the 200M pole before finishing off her race strongly to win by a length last time out over 1500M. She has a handy draw two and will be hoping to chalk up her third career victory. As such, she is taken to be the best bet on the day’s card.

CABACA has finished second in her last two starts, the latest over 1600M, just under a half-length behind the winner. She had to be switched out at the 150M mark to get a clear run that day, but hit the line hard and from one gate outside the top pick, she could be her biggest danger.

SHURI missed out on her hat-trick after victories over 1400M and 1500M when finishing sixth last time out when dropping down to 1300M, 2.3L behind the winner. She was returning from a 24-week break that day and was slow away, had to be checked off the heels of another runner shortly after the start, but was still able to make good late progress over the latter stages. The filly jumps from gate seven and should be involved in the finish.

Race 5

The day’s value bet, PRIMO followed up his penultimate run victory over 1400M with a second place finish next time out over 1300M, just a length back from the winner, this despite racing three wide throughout and coming the widest of them all into the home straight. He stayed on well that day and the form of that race has been franked. Whilst drawn wide in gate nine, he should be doing his best work late to give the trainer/jockey combination of M, W and J Hawkes and Tyler Schiller the first two legs of the day’s Jackpot.

MONARCHS BRAE missed out on his hat-trick after two victories over 1900M when finishing eighth last time out over the same c&d, 3.3L behind the winner, but he jumped awkwardly in that event bumping another runner and was reported to have been lame in his off-hind leg. He was immediately rested for 20 weeks and returns here after having the benefit of two barrier trials. The gelding gets a useful draw three and should be right up there when they hit the line.

SAILOR won his penultimate start over 1600M and then had to be held up approaching the home turn and steadied at the 200M pole after bumping another runner when finishing fifth next time out over 1500M, 4.3L off the victor. The gelding has pulled draw six and will have 3kgs taken off his back thanks to his claiming apprentice.

Race 6

This looks to be a tricky race with plenty of runners in with a realistic chance of finding the winner’s box, so some caution is suggested. LITTLE COINTREAU narrowly missed out on his hat-trick after two wins over 1300M when finishing second last time out over 1400M, beaten just a short-head, but he jumped awkwardly in that event bumping another runner and turned three wide into the home stretch and then hanging out all the way down to the wire. The gelding returns from a 20-week rest, but has had two barrier trials and from a wideish gate eight, he looks to be the one to side with in this line-up.

GIVARA won over 1400M three runs back, finished fourth in his penultimate start over the same journey and then tenth in his latest outing, again over 1400M, four and a half lengths adrift of the winner, but he was slow away that day. From his kinder draw four, he could complete the exacta.

SILENT RAINDROPS is a 4-year-old filly taking on the boys and is the stable companion of the top choice. She did not get the clearest of passages in the home straight after being slow away and finding herself towards the rear of the field when ending up in seventh spot last time out over 1250M, 7.8L behind the winner, so she had her excuses. She gets a set of blinkers re-fitted for today’s run and if this move has the desired effect, she should be a big runner here. The filly has her peak run after returning from a 19-week spell and from gate seven, she makes a solid back-up for the yard.

Race 7

PURE HYDROGEN jumped awkwardly, but kept chasing all the way down to the wire when ending up in second place last time out over 1700M, three lengths behind the winner. The gelding faces a wide draw twelve, but he will be looking to chalk up his fourth career victory.

A 3-year-old and a 4-year-old filly could chase him home, with the slight preference going to WORTH AVENUE who is seldom far off the action, finishing powerfully to claim fifth place last time out over 1600M, two and a half lengths back from the winner. She has a cosy draw four and should turn in another solid performance here, having her peak run after returning from a 23-week spell.

FRANKLY ELEGANT hit the front at the entrance to the home stretch and then held off all the late challengers in the dash down to the wire to win her last start over 1800M, albeit by just a short-head. She will have to negotiate a wide draw nine, but nevertheless, she should be included in all bets.
