Race 6.

SAVANIK is a 4yr old filly taking on the boys and although recorded as finishing sixth last time out over seven furlongs, she was just 2.3L behind the winner. It should however be noted that she came six wide into the home straight that day, costing herself valuable ground. She gets gate seven and will have 2kgs taken off her back thanks to her claiming apprentice. As such, she is taken to be the best bet on the day’s card.

THE ADMIRAL is the stable companion to the top choice who missed out on his hat-trick after victories over 1500M and a mile when finishing seventh over the same journey last time out, just over four lengths behind the winner. The form of that race has stood up well with two runners out of that contest subsequently winning and whilst facing a wide draw nine, he makes a solid back-up for the yard.

ULTIMATE COMMAND is a 3yr old filly who followed up her penultimate run victory over six furlongs with a tenth place finish last time out over the same c&d, just under six lengths back from the winner. She jumped awkwardly that day striking the starting gates and returned with blood in her mouth, so that effort is probably best ignored. She gets gate five and has 3kgs removed from her allocated weight courtesy of her claiming apprentice and should be involved in the finish.

Race 7.

DREAM TO ME is a 3yr old filly taking on males, but she has only had the two runs to date, winning by 3.8L on debut over six furlongs and then finishing a short-head second next time out when dropping to five furlongs. She jumped awkwardly that day, but finished off her race well and would have come on further with the run under her belt. From her handy draw four, she is made the value bet on the day’s program.

MAGICAL GEM also finished strongly to win his maiden race last time out over six furlongs by two and a half lengths. He gets gate seven and will be having his peak run after returning from a 26 week break. The gelding takes on stronger here, but may well be up to the task at hand.

STELLAR VISTA is a 4yr old filly who is seldom far off the action, finishing third in her latest outing over 1300M, 2.8L back from the winner, but she did hang in all the way down the home straight that day, which would not have helped her cause. She returns from a 36 week break, but has had a barrier trial to prove her fitness and from a useful draw two and with the services of a 2kg claiming apprentice, she should be right up there when they hit the line.

Race 8.

This looks to be a tricky race with plenty of runners in with a realistic chance of finding the winner’s box, so some caution is advised.

GOLDEN LULLABY battled all the way down to the wire when finishing third last time out over seven furlongs, 1.2L behind the winner and the form of that race has been franked. She is a 3yr old filly taking on boys, but she has pulled gate six and will have 2kgs taken off her back thanks to her claiming apprentice to aid her cause.

POPCORN TENDER tried to go from jump to wire when ending up in fifth spot last time out over a mile, three and a half lengths behind the winner. She faces a wide gate twelve, but she should use her early gate speed to move across without expending too much energy.

MONG KHON had solid form before being disappointing when finishing fourth last time out over a mile, eight lengths adrift of the victor, but that was in very heavy going which clearly did not suit the gelding. From a kinder draw five, he will be looking to bounce back to winning ways today.

Race 9.

LET’S GALAHVANT has won two of his last three outings, the latest over seven furlongs by one length when going from gun to tape. He is drawn wide in gate ten out of thirteen, but he is a speedy sort who should be able to work his way across without using up too much energy.

KOHLI won his last start over seven furlongs by 0.8L despite overracing and coming four wide into the home stretch. He has pulled a wideish draw eight, but if his jockey can get him to settle, he could emerge as the biggest danger to the top choice.

DEVINE BEAST is a 4yr old filly taking on males, but she met with interference at the start and then came five wide into the home straight before ending up in fifth spot last time out over seven furlongs, just over two lengths back from the winner, so that effort was encouraging. She is drawn wide in gate eleven, but given her style of racing, she is likely to be dropped out of it in the early stages and then start to pick off the front runners over the closing stages of the race. She will also get 2kgs removed from her allocated weight thanks to her claiming apprentice.
