Race 3: FRENCH CAPTAIN(4)
Race 4: HARRY DA WHEELS(2)
Race 7: COME FLY WITH ME(3)

Magic Tips Best Bets

Race 1: KRYPTONITE(1)
Jockey: V.Niekerk G – Trainer: Bass M W

More than half this field of fillies are unraced and the market will be a good indicator. The raced runners have shown only moderate form thus far but they are lightly raced and could certainly make their experience count. The formline to follow is the Francia run on 12/09 over seven furlongs on this track. The Mike Bass inmate KRYPTONITE has made huge improvement since returning from a ten week rest and she finished close-up in both her comeback runs. She stayed on to finish just out of the money in the contest referred to above and has cracked pole position on her third run after the layoff today. The bay filly should continue to progress and merits healthy respect.

Race 3: SPECIAL BOND(13)
Jockey: Orffer C – Trainer: Crawford B

SPECIAL BOND made huge improvement in his eye-catching second start, over this c & d, two weeks ago and he should build on that effort. He raced wide from his poor draw that day but led at the 800m and fought on gamely to finish a close 5th, beaten just over half a length in a blanket finish. The son of Kildonan has cracked pole position today and that will be hugely significant.

Race 5: CAPTAIN ALFREDO(4)
Jockey: Marcus A – Trainer: Kannemeyer D

This is the start of some really exciting contests, featuring many potentially top quality individuals The lightly raced four-year old CAPTAIN ALFREDO seems to have a great affection for this tight track and he produced an eye-catching comeback run over this c & d, two weeks ago. He showed lots of class prior to the break but has obviously been plagued by injury. It is concerning that he races so soon but his conditioner seldom winds them up on their return, so there could be plenty of progress to come from the Captain Al gelding. He has enough gate speed to overcome his wide draw and gets Anton Marcus in the saddle.

Race 7: INARA(1) – TOP BET
Jockey: V.Niekerk G – Trainer: Bass M W

Just eight runners go to post for this Grade 3 event but an exciting contest is on the cards and the Mike Bass yard could again dominate the headlines. INARA renews her rivalry with her fast improving stable companion COME FLY WITH ME but has plenty more to do at the weights. That said, she had a lot in hand when easing past the pacesetting latter over this c & d in her comeback run, two weeks ago and should raise her game further. Just for the record, the daughter of Trippi is a whopping 6kgs worse off at the weights but she will be much fitter now and hardly surprisingly is the stable elect. The dual Grade 1 winning filly of last season is clearly more effective over an extra furlong but once again her sheer class should pull her through.

VALUE BET FOR TODAY:

Race 8: TRIPPA(3)
Jockey: Domeyer A – Trainer: Kruyer P P

This is a very competitive maiden contest and yet another thrilling finish is expected. TRIPPA has drawn well on her first venture around the turn and she is bred to relish the rise in distance. The daughter of Trippi had two useful sprints at Kenilworth and she improved to finish just out of the money, second time out. That formline has worked out well and judging from her betting in both her runs, she could be rated by her yard.
