TOP BET FOR TODAY
Race 1: TOP CLASSMAN(5)
Jockey: Diego DE GOUVEIA Trainer: Frank ROBINSON

TOP CLASSMAN has shown decent potential and clearly found the mile too sharp for him in his comeback run two weeks ago. He went close over a mile and a half prior to that and should love today’s marathon journey. The son of Mogok will strip fitter and he holds strong claims in this opening affair. The slight worry is that he will be partnered by an apprentice and the strong colt could give his young pilot a tough time. Ultimately, he needs to be gelded.

Race 2: FLAMENCO DANCER(9)
Jockey: Anthony DELPECH – Trainer: Dennis BOSCH

FLAMENCO DANCER is well-bred and she has already shown potential in her two starts to date, albeit she failed to land the hefty betting coup over a mile on this track second time out. She had an eye-catching debut performance prior to that though and it is most encouraging that her top jockey retains the ride on the daughter of Trippi who is drawn best of all.

Race 5: QUEEN’S PLAIN(7)
Jockey:  Anthony DELPECHE – Trainer: Duncan HOWELLS
QUEEN’S PLAIN had a slightly below-par second outing in a similar field but this daughter of Dynasty is loaded with potential as was evident from her exciting debut victory. She has a stiff task on her hands today but the likely strong gallop will suit her perfectly and she is certainly worth another chance.

Race 9: BYLINE(11)
Jockey:  Diego DE GOUVEIA- Trainer: Duncan HOWELLS
BYLINE was unfancied when she produced a decent debut effort over this c & d in a competitive field earlier this month. She was slightly slow into stride and understandably green but made late headway to finish just out of the money. The daughter of Byword should have much more to offer and she has strong claims with a promising apprentice in the saddle.

Race 3: HERODUS(7)
Jockey: Craig BANTAM Trainer: Candice BASS-ROBINSON

There are many form contenders in this wide open maiden all-apprentice affair where the Cape visitor HERODUS can build on his fair local debut and register a major upset from his decent barrier. The bay gelding got going late on the polytrack after jumping slowly over the minimum distance and he should handle this extra furlong. He showed fair ability in the ‘Mother City’.
