GIANT LEAP won his last start in good fashion. He has cracked a good inside draw and it will be no surprise to see him make it back-to-back wins. GIMME FIVE is better than his below-par last effort. His form is inconsistent but if putting bis best foot forward he can feature in this opening contest.
13:40 – Race 2 | Class 4 – 1200m

HAPPY SOUL is the tentative first choice. He is nicely weighted with apprentice Alfred Chan aboard and he can give a good account of himself from pole. HAPPY TRIO showed signs of needing his comeback run behind Packing Power. He will strip a much fitter horse and it is encouraging that Karis Teetan has kept faith in the ride.
14:10 – Race 3 | Class 4 – 1200m

GALLANT VALOUR was a beaten favourite behind Travel Golf last time. He is drawn nicely in barrier 2 and looks one of the better bets on the card. LUCKY PLANET won his last start easily over this course and distance. He is drawn alongside the top selection and can give him a good run for his money.
14:40 – Race 4 | Class 5 – 1000m
Selections: 9/1/7
HAPPY TANGO finished half a length behind GOODMANSHIP last time. He is slightly worse off at the weights and he may have to settle for the same result. PLENTIFUL finished 2 lengths behind the top selection in the race mentioned above and must be included in exotics. ACE TALENT is next best.
15:10 – Race 5 | Class 3 – 1650m
Selections: 5/9/4
STAR CONTACT has consistent form to his credit. He has been narrowly beaten in his last three starts and his next win is overdue. He is always competitive in Class 3 and merits healthy respect. SETANTA finished a couple of lengths behind the winner last time. He is holding form well and should be involved in the outcome of this contest.
15:45 – Race 6 | Class 4 | 1800m
Selections: 3/2/5
WINNING STEPS has shown a clear preference for racing at Happy Valley and he should be one of the leading contenders. FOREVER GLORIOUS has decent form and is suited to this distance. If returning fit he should be involved in the fight to the finish. DRAGON STAR is next in line.
16:15 – Race 7 | Class 3 – 1200m
Selections: 5/7/3
The South African-bred PARTERRE won his last start defeating Giant Leap who has since franked the form. He jumps in class and it will be interesting to see how he goes in Class 3. The Douglas Whyte trained YOUNG ARROW was beaten the narrowest of margins in his last start. He is a horse that is lightly raced and is still on the upgrade.
16:50 – Race 8 | Class 2 – 1650m
Selections: 7/8/1
YELLOWFIN finished a length in-front of CHILL CHIBI last time. He has been knocking on the door and can notch up his fifth career victory. MOMENTS IN TIME is a former Group 1 winner. He is unbeaten on firm ground and if the going is on-top he will be difficult to peg back in the closing stages.
