ROYAL AUSSIE is much better than his last start in the Grade 1 WSB Cape Town Met. He over-raced in the early stages, raced wide around the turn and understandably weakened in the straight. His penultimate run in the Grade 1 L’Ormarins King’s Plate catches the eye. He has won once and finished third once from four starts over this C&D. Grant van Niekerk steps back into the saddle and if switching off early, he can return to winning ways.

THUNDERSTRUCK has very good consistent form lines to his credit. He showed good speed in the Grade 1 World Pool Cape Flying Championship last time but was outrun late by Dyce. He has won twice, finished second twice and third once from as many starts over this distance. The son of Rafeef is likely to adopt the same tactics this afternoon and he can notch up his sixth-career victory.

The son of Gimmethegreenlight will be at home over this distance. He is likely to be settled near the rear of the field once again and is the horse to beat.
