With a bit of luck from his wide draw, he should find himself in the winner’s enclosure.

AKWAAN was an impressive winner of his last two starts, the latest of which was over this distance. He took the lead at the 800m mark and won a lot easier than the official margin suggests. The son of I Am Invincible takes a rise in class this afternoon, but he looks to have ability. The hat-trick is definitely on the cards.

FLAMING DUCHESS finished 1.25 lengths behind stable companion GIMME HOPE JOHANNA over this distance at Turffontein on the inside course. It must be noted that she is 1.5kgs better off at the weights this afternoon and that should be enough for the tables to be turned. She has finished second once and third twice from four starts over this trip. The daughter of Duke Of Marmalade should strip much fitter today and she can get back to winning ways.

KAPAMA was ridden to perfection when winning her last start over 1500m on this course. She has struck up a good relationship with apprentice Nathan Klink and the combination should find themselves in the winner’s enclosure.
