Race 2: No12 – GENTLEMEN’S WORDS
Trainer: Matthew Dunn – Jockey: Matthew McGuren
Sheer consistency is the watchword for GENTLEMEN’S WORDS as she gets a good chance to break her maiden with conditions in her favour. Placed in six of her last ten starts, she went down fighting to Macchina Volante in a maiden handicap at Murwillumbah last time and from a good barrier can have the measure of First Sight and debutant Helmet Head, who shaped encouragingly in his trial.

Race 3: No11 – SNIPERESS (Nap)

SNIPERESS looks to hold the cards as she takes another small but perhaps significant step up the distance ladder in as many starts. The daughter of Shooting To Win found one to beat her in successive races at Grafton while doing nothing wrong, and from the rail will surely be hard to stop. Miss Cronulla has troubled the judge on her last two outings in maiden handicap and merits respect as the main danger.

Race 4: No11 – ITALIAN TUNE

The two horses that should dominate this Class 1 and maiden plate are recent Grafton scorer Hannah From Heaven and perennial bridesmaid ITALIAN TUNE. The latter has run well on soft ground but won’t mind a better surface. In fact it could help tilt the balance in her favour. She’s hit the crossbar three times in a row, getting run out of it by a short neck at Armadale last time, and deserves a change of luck. At bigger odds, Sharp Wit might close the gap on Hannah From Heaven on their Grafton running.

Race 7: No7 – SHE’S SPICY

Without being over-raced SHE’S SPICY goes into this sprint handicap fresh and well. There’s sufficient speed in the contest to imagine her swooping to conquer and following two unlucky-in-running efforts in which she compromised her chance with a slow start. Now she can take that Doomben form to a higher plateau over a slightly longer trip. All About Charlie is the winner of two of his last three in easy conditions and poses a real threat as the value play in the contest, while Inwithachance is another that knows how to win.
