Kranji tips – Saturday 22 June 2024

RACE 1 – Time: 06:30 Class 5 | Handicap | 1400m

Selections: 9/2/1

PRODIGAL bounced back into form last start with a strong second placing and held up in restricted room. Gets in well at the weights and will be running on strongly. GOLD GOVERNOR hasn’t been at his best at this level last start and has been a while since he has been around the mix. Gets a favourable draw from a leading stable.

RACE 2 – Time: 07:00 | Novice | 1400m

Selections: 3/4/1

SANTINO continues to improve with each run, had every chance to win last start and was just defeated by Pacific Gold. He now finds an easier race with a small field. Comes up to 1400m for the first time and obtains an okay draw. BOARDROOM produced a great first win two starts back in maiden grade over 1600m. Had an attempt in the Three-Year-Old series and never came into it. Should strip fitter from that run but draws wide this week.

RACE 3 – Time: 07:30 | Class 5 Handicap | 1200m

Selections: 1/8/7

OUTFIT was a winner on last start winner and rises sharply in the weights but does get some positives including a low draw and strong course and distance record. Leading stable and big chance. BLUEJAY placed in three of his last five starts with some good class five form lines in his favour. Draws nicely in barrier two and a new rider jumps aboard.

RACE 4 – Time: 08:00 | Class 3 Handicap | 1600m

Selections: 1/2/3

MAXIMA put in a great first-up run last start finishing third to Flying Nemo in the same grade. He should take plenty of improvement from that, still lightly raced and has a lot to offer for the rest of the season. ENERGY BABY didn’t have things didn’t go to plan last time out, raced wide with no cover. Had a recent veterinary exam with no abnormality so could bounce back here. He’s been very competitive in this grade in the past.

RACE 5 – Time: 08:30 | Class 5 Handicap | 1400m

Selections: 8/2/3

BIG DAY was favoured in the market last start in a similar race. Should get a lovely run from barrier three and the in-form rider Bernardo Pinheiro has been booked to ride. WAN LEGACY won on last start and gets a four-kilogram claim, coming down to 54kgs which puts him right into contention. Should be nice and positive early in the run.

RACE 6– Time: 09:00 | Class 4 Handicap | 2000m

Selections: 1/3/2

SMART STAR’s been a frustrating horse for connections and punters, always well supported on race day but continues to have excuses with each run. Should be respected again but carries the top weight. GALAXY BAR produced a great win last start over 1800m defeating the prominent stayer Smart Star. Loves to roll forward and is stepping up to 2000m for the first time. He will be well-supported on race day and can win again.

RACE 7 – Time: 09:30 | Class 5 Handicap | 1200m

Selections: 11/3/1

VGOR ran on from well back for a strong second placing behind Outfit in similar conditions. Curatolo takes the ride and will need good speed on early to figure. WAR WARRIOR – one thing that stands out when you see him is Pinheiro has been booked to ride and has a 50% win record aboard him. Looks well-placed in this event.

RACE 8 – Time: 10:00 | Class 4 Handicap | 1400m

Selections: 1/2/7

TE AKAU BEN is racing so well in this grade, building a terrific record over 1400m. Should be the horse to beat in this race but will carry the top weight. He continues to improve with each run and should be respected. AMAZING BREEZE is a great horse for connections, always around the placings and his last few runs have been encouraging even with excuses. He will relish the 1400m distance.

RACE 9 – Time: 10:30 | Class 5 Handicap | 1600m

Selections: 4/2/1

CONTARELLI has Pinheiro retain the ride and looking for a more genuine run race than he got last start where the leader walked early, kicked clear, and won. He is more than capable of a big run here. LIM’S DREAMWALKER placed in three of his last five outings when well-supported in betting in those runs. Has the ability to figure here and wearing the Lim’s colours will be well in the market.

Race 10 – Time: 11:00 | Class 4 Handicap | 1200m

Selections: 5/6/4

BIG UNION is a great upcoming horse for the Jerome Tan stable, showed plenty of ability in his first two performances in class 4 and broke through impressively last start in maiden grade. Should be respected again. PALETAS won well last start in this class. He likes to roll forward and appreciates the all-weather Poly track. Had two recent trials which were okay. Obtains a perfect draw in barrier three.
