TOP BET

Race 4: PIANO MAN(1)
Jockey: Calvin HABIB – Trainer: James GOODMAN

PIANO MAN loves this track and he bounced back to form with two cracking recent efforts in much stronger company. He takes a big dip in class today and will benefit from a 2.5kgs apprentice claim. The Mogok gelding will again wear blinkers and he should go very well in this line-up.

Race 6: IT IS WRITTEN(2)
Jockey: Stuart RANDOLPH – Trainer: Dean KANNEMEYER

IT IS WRITTEN is unbeaten from two starts on this track and he produced a strong finish to win his last outing going away over seven furlongs, four weeks ago. He takes on much stronger this time around but is even better over this extra distance and has his peak outing. The Kannemeyer inmate jumps from a good draw and he should be involved in the finish.

Race 7: GALLICA ROSE(1)
Jockey: Anthony DELPECH – Trainer: Joey RAMSDEN

GALLICA ROSE had a fair summer campaign on her return to Cape Town where she raced in four consecutive features, one of which was at the highest level against subsequent Met Victress Smart Call. She loves racing in this province and went close in the Oaks on this course, just under one year ago. The daughter of Silvano races fresh so this shorter trip won’t be an issue and the engaging of top jockey Delpech suggests that her conditioner will have her fit and ready. She jumps from the best draw and is only slightly out at the weights on official ratings. There are a few smart three-year olds who could make their presence felt despite big mass.

Race 8: FIRST APOSTLE(2)

Jockey: Anton MARCUS – Trainer: Wendy WHITEHEAD

FIRST APOSTLE is rated by his stable and he backed that up with three decent efforts on the polytrack. That said, he was expected to win when only managing 2nd over this trip last time out but the 3rd placed finisher Roy’s Gale boosted that form with a subsequent victory. This son of King’s Apostle would have strengthened during his eight week absence and he should continue to progress. He tries the turf from a handy draw and is the final ride for jockey Marcus on the card.

VALUE BET (EACH WAY) FOR TODAY:

Race 3: DIZZY FEET(5)
Jockey: Stuart RANDOLPH – Trainer: Glen KOTZEN

DIZZY FEET probably found the trip too far for her in strong company last time but she generally enjoys this inside track and won her only appearance over the c & d. She will much prefer racing in this low-key handicap and can continue her stable’s recent fine run of form in this province. She is the yard’s only entrant on the day and she is well drawn.
