This is a low-key handicap but there are some potentially classy sorts who could produce an exciting finish. THRUST makes his grass debut and will be a serious contender, if judged on his smashing sand form. The smart-looking Paul Matchett inmate built on his classy debut over this trip, with two subsequent victories, the latest being his more comfortable on his handicap debut. The well-related son of Toreador is hard to assess at this stage but clearly has decent ability and plenty more to offer. He will be aided by pole position on his track debut.
Race 6: PIVOTAL PURSUIT(1)
Jockey: Andrew FORTUNE – Trainer: Gary ALEXANDER
PIVOTAL PURSUIT continues to be a revelation and he recently completed a four-timer when beating a decent field on his seasonal debut over this c & d. That earned him a hefty six pound penalty but the son of Pivotal still has more to offer and he jumps from a good draw. He will face another serious test as he concedes chunks of weight all around but merits healthy respect once more.
Race 7: LOCO POR GANAR(1)
Jockey: Gavin LERENA – Trainer: Geoff WOODRUFF
There could be a serious lack of pace in this handicap and that will benefit the top weights. LOCO POR GANAR has been defeated just once from four starts on this track and he continues to hold his form really well since joining this stable. He finished well for a close 4th last time out and meets subsequent winner WOZA MADODA on 2kgs better terms for that under one length defeat. Gavin Lerena gets on really well with the Equal Stripes gelding and the pair could prove tough to beat. He returns from a 13 week break so the likely sedate gallop could play into his hands.
Race 8: GALLILEE(1)
Jockey: Piere STRYDOM – Trainer: Michael AZZIE
GALLILEE is lightly raced and has shown plenty of promise to date. She stayed on well for a close 4th behind the tough as nails mare, SHE’S A LOOKER over a mile in her last outing and now faces her conqueror on 4.5kgs better terms. The top weighted daughter of Silvano could relish this extra furlong and it is very encouraging that Strydom retains the ride. The Mike Azzie inmate still has lots of room for improvement.

Race 9: PARISIENNE CHIC(9) (Each Way)
Jockey: Marco V/RENSBURG – Trainer: St John GRAY
The three-year olds have a decent say in this low-key final event and PARISIENNE CHIC seems to be crying out for this ground. The St John Gray inmate has shown good potential up to a mile and ran on again at the finish of her last two mile starts. The manner in which she stayed on suggests that the daughter of Bankable could relish this extra furlong. She jumps from a handy draw and could be a real force with 55kgs on her back. Her track experience will stand her in good stead.
