Magic Tips Best Bets
TOP BET
Race 2: TRUMPETS CALLING(2)
Jockey: Craig ZACKEY – Trainer: Sean TARRY

TRUMPETS CALLING never shaped on the tight inside course recently but is much better than that and the blinkers, coupled with a return to the standside track could make all the difference for the Tarry inmate today. The daughter of Trippi had her career best effort over this c & d in her penultimate run and she still has good scope for improvement.

Race 4: FRENCH NAVY(2)
Jockey: S’manga KHUMALO – Trainer: Sean TARRY

The powerful Tarry yard is well-represented in this Grade 2 contest where the pace could be very interesting. The top rating FRENCH NAVY certainly requires a solid gallop to produce his customary burst. The classy five-year-old loves this galloping track and he will prefer going back over ten furlongs today. He had a fair Cape spell in the summer and his last c & d effort behind top class stablemate Legal Eagle in a Grade 1 just under one year ago, stands out in his formline.

Race 6: PAGODA(2)
Jockey: Gavin LERENA – Trainer: Geoff WOODRUFF

PAGODA has continued to improve since being equipped with blinkers and he finished strongly to beat HIERONYMUS over nine furlongs on the inside course three weeks ago. The switch to the standside track, coupled with the extra furlong swings things heavily in favour of the former despite him being 2.5kgs worse off at the weights with the runner-up. The classy son of Mogok still has lots of improvement to come and top jockey Gavin Lerena climbs aboard for the Woodruff yard.

Race 7: TRIP TO HEAVEN(1)

Jockey: S’manga KHUMALO – Trainer: Sean TARRY

The top class TRIP TO HEAVEN ended the summer with another scintillating performance in the Cape, albeit in a losing cause at the highest level. The son of Trippi produced his usual powerful finish but just failed to nab his equally top class stablemate Carry On Alice over the five furlongs at Kenilworth. He deserved his eight week break and can resume winning ways back in his hometown. The five-year-old is once again best in at the weights on official ratings.

VALUE BET (EACH WAY) FOR TODAY:

Race 8: ARISSA(11)

Jockey: Muzi YENI – Trainer: Alec LAIRD

The three-year-old filly ARISSA was always going to find the minimum trip too sharp for her recently but she was making late progress and will be an entirely different proposition here. Furthermore, she runs extremely well for Muzi Yeni and the Alec Laird trained filly represents decent each/way value.
