Magic Tips Best Bets

TOP BET
Race 1: MISS BOOMERANG(2)
Jockey: S Chambers – Trainer: C Spies

The really quick MISS BOOMERANG blasted her rivals when landing the betting coup on debut over 800m at Turffontein three weeks ago. The 5th placed entrant, her stablemate Mazari (runs in race 2) boosted the formline with an impressive subsequent victory and this daughter of Bold Silvano can make more forward steps. She should raise her game against male rivals.

Race 3: GHOST RIDER(10)
Jockey: D Schwarz  – Trainer: S Tarry

GHOST RIDER may have some niggles but the lightly raced inmate from the Tarry yard showed decent progress with an eye-catching comeback performance in a strong field two weeks ago. He was returning from a 35 week absence and will be fitter. The son of Captain Al should make further improvement. The long-time maiden PRINCE OF WAR has hit a ‘purple’ patch recently and he finished runner-up at this venue a week ago under today’s jockey.

Race 5: MALINGA(1)
Jockey: R Simons  – Trainer: A Laird

MALINGA has a strong c & d record and he reproduced his best form when recording a game recent victory over stronger opposition three weeks ago. The Silvano gelding escaped with the minimum two pound penalty and he has his peak showing. ALI BON DUBAI is also in good form and he runs particularly well for this youngster. He fetched a four pound hike for a fluent last win over this trip but also must be included again.

Race 8: COLOUR OF LIGHT(5)
Jockey: J V.D.Merwe  – Trainer:S Tarry

The grey filly COLOUR OF LIGHT was unfancied when she produced a strong finish to narrowly win her debut over 1160m at Turffontein. That formline has proven to be disappointing despite the 12th placed entrant Nightmare’s subsequent victory but this inmate from the Tarry yard would have come on appreci- ably from the experience. She could prove to be better than rated.

VALUE BET (EACH WAY) FOR TODAY:
Race 4: ASHDOWN(10)
Jockey: R Danielson  – R Magner

This maiden contest isn’t as straight forward as the betting market indicates and ASHDOWN can cause a major upset. She enjoyed the step-up in distance when registering a much improved recent outing albeit tiring late over the ten furlongs on soft ground after setting the pace. This slightly shorter trip will be right up her alley.
