Magic Tips Best Bets

TOP BET
Race 2: SELFIE(1)
Jockey: D Mansour- Trainer: Janse van Vuuren

SELFIE was unfavourably drawn but she stayed on strongly for a good 2nd over this c & d in her much improved recent performance. Interestingly, the daughter of Var attracted decent market support that day and she will certainly have more to offer. She is drawn up the centre this time around.

Race 4: PALE LILAC(10)
Jockey: R Simons – Trainer: A Laird

PALE LILAC was unfancied when she produced an eye-catching debut over this c & d behind a highly rated sort last month. The victory margin flatters this daughter of Alado but she did finish smartly and should make natural progress from her decent barrier. OUR SHINING STAR is drawn best of all and she can build on her fair sprint debut behind the useful Penny Royal (runner-up subsequently). The bay filly should enjoy this rise in distance.

Race 5: HIDDEN AGENDA(4)
Jockey: R Munger   – Trainer: S Kenny

HIDDEN AGENDA was carded to race last Saturday so his progress there must be monitored. The six-year old has kept his form well and he caught the eye with a strong finish over a mile at a higher level last month. He won his only effort over this distance and should be highly competitive with blinkers fitted once again.

Race 8: STAR OF JOBURG(2)
Jockey: G Lerena  – Trainer: E Verdonese

The three-year old STAR OF JOBURG is a promising type who has much room for improvement and he appears ahead of the handicapper at this early stage. He showed a different side to his game when he ran on well to win his maiden over the minimum distance recently and should enjoy today’s extra furlong. The son of Horse Chestnut will be severely tested with his big mass on handicap debut but he could prove equal to the task. His good draw is a definite plus on his track debut.

VALUE BET (EACH WAY) FOR TODAY:
Race 9: BURGUNDY ROSE(9)
Jockey: J Greyling  – Trainer: L Erasmus

BURGUNDY ROSE weakened late on yielding ground recently but she found some decent form prior to that, including finishing a close 2nd behind CELTIC LADY (2kg worse off) three starts ago. The speedy chestnut filly is favourably drawn and she can exact revenge on the top weight.
