RED RIDGE attracted strong market support when she produced an eye-catching debut over this c & d early last month. The Woodruff inmate ran on strongly for a good 3rd and she was just under half a length behind LUCKY LULU. The daughter of Silvano should make that experience count and she can reverse the form with the latter.

ELEVENSES is the form choice in this low-key handicap over nine furlongs and trainer Woodruff’s charge will appreciate the likely strong gallop. The lightly raced five-year-old ran on strongly for 2nd in each of his last two runs on this course, the penultimate of which was over this track & trip. His wide draw isn’t a major issue as he usually comes from way off the pace and the Trippi gelding can go one better today.

The three-year-olds could dominate the outcome of this seven-furlong fillies and mares handicap where SUN SENTINEL possibly has the most scope. The half-sister to Grade 1 winner Juxtapose made the expect- ed improvement as she finished strongly to beat subsequent winner Isolde over this trip at Turffontein in yielding conditions, second time out. It was a win full of merit as the Alec Laird inmate was racing around the turn for the first time. She could prove to be much better than rated on her handicap debut and her experience down the straight will be crucial.

Only a small field of eight entrants contest this competitive handicap but rather surprisingly half of them prefer dictating terms which suggests that a strong pace is expected. PARISIENNE CHIC has some good recent form, including a running on 5th behind male rivals over this c & d last Thursday. She has a handy galloping mass and the likely fast gallop should suit her well. The four-year-old bay filly can raise her game and pull this off.
