Magic Tips Best Bets

Race 2: ORAPA(5)
Jockey: Piere STRYDOM – Trainer: Joe SOMA

Just seven entrants head to post for this graduation contest which could yield an exciting finish. The duo of ORAPA and AFRICA RISING appear set to fight out a titanic duel but the former, who is Strydom’s mount, has the slight edge. The weights indicate that the Joey Soma inmate has work to do but he is a lightly raced gelding who is still improving. The son of Tiger Ridge thrashed his maiden rivals at Turffontein over seven furlongs second time out and wasn’t disgraced in a subsequent minor feature in KZN. His eight-week layoff would have enabled him to recover from the journey to that province and he has plenty more to offer on the Highveld.

Race 5: LITTLE TOKOYO(2)
Jockey: Andrew FORTUNE – Trainer: Brian WIID

LITTLE TOKOYO
had excuses for her below-par second outing but her conqueror boosted that formline with a subsequent victory and the daughter of Admire Main showed her true ability prior to that. She was outrun late into 2nd over this c & d in her penultimate effort and the 3rd placed finisher The Right Answer accounted for a few of today’s rivals when winning next time out. The top selection jumps from the best draw, this time around, and she should bounce back to form.

Top Bet
Race 6: CELTIC LADY(1)
Jockey: Gavin LERENA – Trainer: Roy MAGNER

CELTIC LADY
is lightly raced and she has decent scope for improvement. She accounted for a few of today’s rivals when impressively winning over this c & d, two weeks ago. That earned her a six-pound penalty but the daughter of Bankable is progressive and she can certainly follow-up at this lower level.

Race 8: BRIGHT BRONTE(1)

Jockey: Piere STRYDOM – Trainer: Joe SOMA

The top weight BRIGHT BRONTE failed to make an impression in a stronger line-up over this c & d last time but she had solid form at this level prior to that and she could take all the beating here. She won over this track & trip under Strydom four runs back and the six-year-old bay mare can replicate that performance from her good draw today.

VALUE BET (EACH WAY) FOR TODAY:

Race 7: HENRY HIGGINS(10)

Jockey: Muzi YENI – Trainer: Paul PETER

The evergreen eight-year-old HENRY HIGGINS is holding his form well and he deserves his next career victory. He went down narrowly to the fast improving four-year-old HIDDEN AGENDA over this c & d three weeks ago but is now 1kg better off with his conqueror and he gets the expert services of top lightweight jockey Muzi Yeni. The Paul Peter inmate has a lively chance with just 52kgs on his back.
