FORTUNE FELLA continues to drop in the merit ratings and he has shown encouraging signs in stronger company recently. He was staying on at the finish in a strong field over this distance at Turffontein last time and he is weighted to get much closer to the runner-up STAVINSKY (1.5kgs worse off). The Mambo In Seattle gelding is capable on this track and ‘Striker’, as well as alumites, are definite advantages today.

REBEL RENEGADE is at his best over today’s minimum distance but he surprised many with a decent last effort over six furlongs despite being unfavourably drawn. Interestingly, he was docked further in the merit ratings and the Roy Magner inmate could be a huge contender from his good draw today. Top jockey Muzi Yeni retains the ride and the Rebel King gelding should handle the rise in class.

ANALYSE THIS quickly bounced back to form when going down narrowly despite his jockey’s saddle slipping over this c & d last time and he can make amends at a similar level today. He was raised a pound in his rating but still has more to offer and he represents an in-form yard.

KANTARA QUEEN benefitted greatly from her debut experience as she produced an eye-catching second outing over this c & d in a competitive field. She showed good pace before tiring late into a creditable 5th, beaten just three lengths at the line. The bay filly was returning from a short absence so will strip fitter and she can build on the promise. Her yard is in good form.
