So given defending champion Do It Again’s likely presence at the top of the weights in the big one on 6 July, there is little to lose for the likes of the Snaith duo of DOUBLEMINT and MAGNIFICENT SEVEN, who won’t see their 53kgs July allotment upped.
Winner of the Peninsula Handicap, and not disgraced in the Sun Met at his last start, DOUBLEMINT certainly has them cold at the weights and his tactical duel with the flying ORPHEUS should be a fascinating one. DOUBLEMINT likes to be given a chance, whereas ORPHEUS will be on his bicycle and pedalling from the off. That gives top jockey Anton Marcus a headache and the duel of wits between the champion and the determined Marco van Rensburg should be an entertaining sub-plot.
