After a number of retirements from the national team, a careful selection process brought together 30 players for a training camp in Stellenbosch in January.

The final squad of 15 players includes a mix of experienced and up-and-coming talent, with seven players from South Africa and eight playing overseas.

Notably, nine players from the squad were key members of the 2023 Netball World Cup team, including seasoned players like Pretorius, Venter, Chawane, and van der Berg.

Van Dyk highlighted the importance of the selection process, recognising the dedication and ambitions of all the players involved.

“We understand that we are not only shaping a team but nurturing dreams,” Van Dyk said.

“As we embark on a new season, the selected players are primed and motivated to excel.”

The opening game for the coaching duo will be against Malawi in August, a match known for its intensity. Ahead of the season, the team will gather for a camp next month to align their preparations, with local players and training partners set to participate.

As they gear up for the upcoming Telkom Netball League (TNL), players from local teams like Free State Crinums, Gauteng Jaguars, and Fireballs are getting ready to showcase their skills. Overseas-based players will join the squad at the end of July to prepare for the match against Malawi.

NSA president Cecilia Molokwane, wishes the selected players the best of luck and notes that this year is crucial for building towards the 2027 Netball World Cup in Australia.
