Blog Writers’ Weekend Treble

Check out our writer’s weekend treble that equates to 50/1.

We’ve gone for a big one this week with our suggested treble equating to a mammoth 50/1. We’ll be the first to admit that there are some rather risky bets in here, but hey, sometimes you’ve got to go big or go home. The first leg of our treble comes courtesy of Aaron Crowie, who is backing FC Cape Town to come out on top in Saturday’s Cape Derby, while Jason Dewey has also gone for a soccer market, backing Norwich to come good against Burton. Our final leg, which is the riskiest of the lot, comes from our rugby scribe who reckons Lyon are going to cause the upset of the Top 14 season by downing a fatigued  Toulon outfit.

Stellenbosch FC 13/10 | Draw 2/1 | FC Cape Town 21/10
Stellenbosch FC stretched their run without a victory to eight matches last time out – a run that includes six draws and two defeats – with a disappointing 1-1 home draw against newly-promoted Magesi FC.

FC Cape Town will look to capitalise on a struggling Stellenbosch side. They are unbeaten in their last four games with two victories are undefeated in the last six meetings with Stellenbosch, claiming four wins. Get on the away win.

Burton 26/10 | Draw 47/20 | Norwich 1/11

Running through this weekend’s fixtures while looking for a value bet, Norwich’s trip to Burton Albion jumped out at me immediately. Despite a decent start to the season, the Brewers have gravitated toward the bottom of the table and look in real danger of being relegated after just one season in England’s second tier.

Norwich on the other hand, have recovered magnificently well from a mid-season slump that threatened to derail their campaign completely. They’re unbeaten in six in all competitions and look as though they could break into the top six. Back Norwich – one of the division’s form teams – to get the job done against Burton this weekend.

Toulon 1/20 | Draw 28/1 | Lyon 15/2
I’ve received a significant amount of stick for this one, as the bookies have absolutely no faith in Lyon causing an upset here, but I fancy the men from the Rhone-Alpes region of France to cause one of the shocks of the season this Saturday. Yes, they’re positioned in the lower region of the log but there’s more method to my supposed madness than meets the eye.

Toulon have lost a few players to the French national squad, but my main reason for thinking we may see an upset here is that a whole host of Toulon’s players were involved in the Brisbane Tens last week, which means they will have faced a long-haul flight back to France. Lyon certainly have blown hot and cold but I suspect they may just turn it on at the Stade Mayol. They have a whole host of ex-Toulon players on their books, who will want nothing more than to get a win on the ground they used to play at. It’s a rather large risk but it must be remembered that this league is notorious for producing upsets week in week out.

For The Brave
We are heading back to the price boost market for this week’s extra leg. Chelsea make the trip to Wolves this Saturday for a fifth round FA Cup tie. The Blues are likely to field a rather strong side as they have no European commitments to deal with. We reckon this game will see a whole host of goals. One of the boosted markets for this game is the Totals – Over 4.5, which is available at a healthy 7/2.

Adding this market to the suggested treble will see your odds increase to 179/1!
