Friday 14 April

Sharks | Draw | Blue Bulls

Odds TBA*

The Sharks became the first side to knock over reigning champs the Pumas last week, and they’ll take that momentum into their clash at Hollywoodbets Kings Park here. Considering the performances of their northern rivals so far, they should have the good here.

The Bulls got their first win in a 40-3 demolition of Griquas in Pretoria last week but had the advantage of fielding their URC team for that one. With their second stringers set to turn out in Durban, they may find themselves under the pump yet again.

Sharks on the minus.

Saturday 15 April

Western Province | Draw | Free State Cheetahs

Province bounced back well from their home loss to Griquas with a 47-28 defeat of Griffons at the same venue. The competition’s most successful team have endured a tricky start this term, winning three from five so far, and will be keen to start picking up momentum. Unfortunately, they may have to wait a week longer.

The Cheetahs will be big players again this season, having put the Lions to the sword in a 52-15 victory in Joburg last week. With their full focus on the Currie Cup, they’re certain to win more than they lose and should grab a fifth victory here.

WP on the plus.

Sunday 16 April

Griffons | Draw | Pumas

Griffons’ impressive giant-slaying of the Bulls in round four was followed by last week’s hiding in Cape Town. They were always going to be up against it after so long out of the premier division, but they’ll be eyeing another win before the end of their campaign. It won’t come this weekend though.

The Pumas will be eager to put their loss to the Sharks behind them fast and should overpower the hosts here.

Pumas to clear the handicap.

Golden Lions | Draw | Griquas

The Lions were on the receiving end of a thrashing by the Cheetahs last week but should get their third win of their campaign here.

Griquas fell in Pretoria in the last round after seeing off WP in the Cape the week before. They may struggle in Joburg here.

Lions on the minus at home.
