The PRO14’s two South African sides will square off in Bloemfontein on Saturday the 1st of February.

The Cheetahs will be looking to close the gap between themselves and Conference A’s second-placed side, Ulster, when they take on local rivals the Southern Kings on Saturday afternoon. The visitors are enduring yet another dire campaign and have only won one of the nine fixtures they have played.

Will the Cheetahs heap on more misery or will the Kings finally bag that elusive second win?

Cheetahs v Southern Kings
Saturday 1 February
Toyota Free State Stadium
17:00

To Win (80 Mins)
Cheetahs 1/11
Draw 30/1
Kings 6/1

Cheetahs
The Free Staters will be targeting this game as a five-pointer as they currently sit ten-points off Ulster on the Conference A standings and have a difficult run of games in the coming weeks.

This will be the second time in the space of a fortnight that the two sides face each other with the Cheetahs somewhat fortunate to win last weekend’s encounter 31-30.

Last weekend’s victory was only the Cheetahs’ second win in the space of five games. During their last five outings, they have suffered defeats to Zebre, the Cardiff Blues and the Scarlets. They really do need to turn their form around and back-to-back victories over their South African rivals would do them a world of good.

Kings
The Kings will be kicking themselves after not taking a great opportunity to win their second game of the season. They had the Cheetahs the for the taking last week but an errant lineout throw during the final salvos of the first half would see the Kings 13-point lead cut to just eight, and the start of a Cheetahs comeback.

The Kings will have to cut out rudimentary errors such as the ones they made last week if they are to beat a Cheetahs side who are a lot better on home soil than they are on the road.

Verdict: Cheetahs 1/11
I think we’ll see a far more polished performance from the Cheetahs this coming weekend. They are a much better side on their own track and I can see them beating the Kings by more than 17 points.
