Kaunda Ntunja’s Phaka Predictions for round 10 of Super Rugby 2019 are…

Chiefs vs Lions
Friday 19th April, 09:35

Chiefs (-7.5)
Lions (+7.5)

This is a tough one to call because the Chiefs are missing some key players in the form of the injured Damian McKenzie and Brodie Retallick. Not forgetting that this is the return of Lions captain Warren Whiteley which will boost Swys de Bruin’s charges. I’m going to have to go for the local team because it isn’t easy to beat New Zealand teams there.

Phaka Prediction:
Chiefs to win by 3 points.

Sunwolves vs Hurricanes
Friday 19th April, 12:00

Sunwolves (+16.5)
Hurricanes (-16.5)

The Canes are without Beauden Barrett and Dane Coles while the Sunwolves have their full compliment of players. A full Hurricanes outfit would run away with this one but because they are limited it could be close.

Phaka Prediction:
Hurricanes to win by 8 points.

Sharks vs Reds
Friday 19th April, 15:05

Sharks (-13.5)
Reds (+13.5)

The Sharks should be disappointed after displaying their worst result in their franchise’s history last week after being demolished by the Jaguares. You would assume that they were read the riot act good and proper during the week. The Reds are not a team that anyone can really be worried about because they lack quality in a number of key positions. I don’t see the Sharks embarrassing themselves two weeks in a row.

Phaka Prediction:
Sharks to win by 10 points.

Highlanders vs Blues
Saturday 20th April, 09:35

Highlanders 9/10
Blues 9/10
Draw 25/1

I expect this one to go down to the wire. I’m glad to see that Aaron Smith is back for the Highlanders even though he is on the bench. I expect him to come on at halftime. When two teams are evenly matched I normally go for the home side.

Phaka Prediction:
Highlanders to win by 5 points.

Waratahs vs Rebels
Saturday 20th April, 11:45

Waratahs (+1.5)
Rebels (-1.5)

Even though the Tahs don’t have Israel Folau anymore they are still a decent side on paper. After the Stormers burst the Rebels’ bubble last week I foresee one or two more losses coming their way.

Phaka Prediction:
Waratahs to win by 4 points.

Stormers vs Brumbies
Saturday 20th April, 15:05

Stormers (-8.5)
Brumbies (+8.5)

Before the teams were even announced I would’ve gone for the Stormers in this one but after seeing that David Pocock isn’t available, I am now even more convinced that the Stormers will win. There are one or two senior players that will return for the Stormers which will definitely boost their confidence even more after winning in Melbourne last week. The Stormers team hadn’t been announced at the time of writing but I have confidence in what they can do at Newlands when their confidence is up.

Phaka Prediction:
Stormers to win by 12 points.
