We’re already well into 2020 with more and more sporting action hitting our screens as all of the world’s football leagues – with the exception of a few that play through the festive season – making their returns! Here, we’ll look at a few tips you should be following in order to make the most of your 2020 betting experience!

Only bet what you can afford.
This is probably the most important tip you’ll receive, and if it’s not something you’re following already, it’s certainly something you should be looking to implement in 2020. Give yourself a “punting budget” every month. Remember, this should be money that you can afford to lose. This budget should also be drawn up with regular expenses kept in mind. So make sure that you sort out things like your rent, school fees, clothing and cellphone accounts first before you start adding money to your betting budget.
Study your form!
This one goes without saying! Whether you’re taking soccer multiple or a single horse racing bet, make sure you know exactly how the bet type works, that you understand the odds and that you’ve studied the form of the horse or team that you’ve backed. Betting shouldn’t be blind guessing, so grab a copy of Winning Form or Soccer Betting News and make sure to study that form before investing your money!
Ignore personal bias.
This is a big one! A lot of people blindly add the teams they support to their multiples. Needless to say, this is probably the easiest way to derail your selections for the weekend. Only add the team you support to your ticket if you’ve carefully studied their form beforehand. Just think of all of the unfortunate Manchester United, Arsenal and Tottenham supporters who would have added their teams to tickets this season alone!
Have a clear understanding of the markets you’re backing.
It’s really important that you have a sound knowledge of the markets that you’re betting on. Is the horse race you’re betting on paying out three or four places? Are you aware that the Champions League Final market you’re betting is only valid for the 90 minutes and doesn’t cover any eventualities that may occur in extra time or the penalty shootout?
