With the transfer deadline fast approaching, Chelsea is linked with three possible signings to bolster their squad ahead of their gruelling English Premier League title defence.
Ross Barkley – Everton
The 23-year-old is expected to move by the end of Thursday’s transfer season deadline day. A deal of approximately £25million is likely to be made and Everton manager Ronald Koeman has confirmed the rumours and expects to see Barkley leave this summer. Everton is prepared for Barkley’s exit with the additions of attackers Gylfi Sigurdsson and Wayne Rooney.
Alex Oxlade-Chamberlain – Arsenal
The tussle for the 24-year-old Oxlade-Chamberlain continues as Liverpool and Chelsea make offers to Arsenal. An approximate fee of £40 million has been made to the soon-to-be former Gunner after he refused a 180k per week offer from Arsene Wenger. After the weekend’s dismal performance it’s clear things in Arsenal are not at all rosy and there’s a sense of change of commitments within players, as Alexis Sanchez is also rumoured to leave. The Blues are in the forefront and are expected to receive the services of Chamberlain, but we won’t count Liverpool out just yet.
Danny Drinkwater – Leicester City
The foxes are set to part ways with 27-year-old Danny Drinkwater, with an offer of £28 million reportedly agreed on. Drinkwater is likely to replace Nemanja Matic who is now reunited with his former manager Jose Mourinho at Manchester United. The midfielder will fight it out for a starting spot with Cesc Fabregas, Tiemoue Bakayoko, and N’Golo Kante.
