Coach Broos was addressing the media ahead of Tuesday night’s highly anticipated game.

“There is always preparation, but we are looking forward to play. We are aware that we have a tough opponent with Mali, but we believe in our chances, and I hope we can achieve our best level so that we can win the game because it’s very important for a tournament like this to start with a victory.” saidBroos.

Having won the AFCON tournament once before, coach Hugo Broos said he dreams of winning it the second time, however, saying it is much easier than doing it.

“You know when you win it once, you want to win it twice. Winning the AFCON is a fantastic feeling, and I’ve said it already before, I’m European but the intensity and the joy and everything around winning an AFCON is unique.” said coach Broos.

Earlier this week coach Broos also warned against the dangers of undermining ‘little countries’ in the tournament, saying that AFCON always has a surprise and there is always a team that no one expected.

Bafana captain Percy Tau also said the team is looking forward to the games and even though their group has difficult opponents, they believe in themselves and want to do something special for South Africans.

Bafana Bafana is set to go up against Mali on Tuesday night, in what will be their first match in the AFCON tournament and South Africans will be glued to their screens.
