Mikel Arteta will want to celebrate his new three-year contract with a derby win and show characteristics of title challenges by winning under any circumstance.

Kaizer Chiefs – New Beginnings
A reborn Kaizer Chiefs? The awakening sleeping giant? The proof will be on the pitch and specifically in the three points under the tutelage of new coach Nasreddine Nabi. The time for talk is over.
Chiefs will be desperate for a fast start and to gain momentum to get their many devoted fans behind them. First up is an away trip to new side Marumo Gallants on Saturday. Happy People as they like to be known, Chiefs will want to end the opening weekend with a pleasing win. Failure to collect three points will immediately put the new manager and his charges on the back foot. After an underwhelming few season, it’s time for the Glamour Boys to turn up.

Orlando Pirates – Perennial Bridesmaids
From one title challenger to another, Jose Riveiro will want his Orlando Pirates side to lay down a marker as title favourites this season to finally end Mamelodi Sundowns’ prolonged dominance.
The Buccaneers begin their campaign at home to Chippa United on Wednesday. Pirates perhaps boast the best-attacking trio in local football, maybe even the best starting eleven, that could point towards their recent cup success.
But now, the Soweto giants will want to show that they have the best squad to finally win a league. Possessing some of the best players in the league, it will be fun to watch these players light up the domestic stage. Tshwane Derby
We don’t really do fierce rivalries in South African football. Fans of Pirates and Chiefs can sit next to each other in a sold-out FNB Stadium which is not a common occurrence in world football.
As with Tuesday’s fixture, the Tshwane derby is perhaps a lopsided derby dominated by the reigning Betway Premiership championship Mamelodi Sundowns. SuperSport have even sold their best and brightest stars to their Chloorkop-based rivals.
But football remains 11 vs 11 and what Matsatsantsa do possess is a solid team with experienced players and wise old campaigner in Gavin Hunt who whose managerial career spans 30 years. Expect fast football against slick passing over an action-packed 90 minutes of football.
