With the start of the 2019/2020 PSL season beckoning, we decided to take a look at which clubs made the best transfers.
It’s been vastly contrasting so far with some teams looking like they are creating a new team, whilst others are being a Tottenham and not signing anyone. Yet to begin in less than 2 weeks’ time though, clubs still have enough time to acquire some top-class talents to boost their squads.
Fortune Makaringe – 26 years old (Maritzburg United to Orlando Pirates)
The former Maritzburg United midfielder has been consistently good over the past 2 years, even earning himself a Bafana call up last year. Predominantly playing in the attacking midfielder position, he has the liking to find himself out on the wings from time to time, and is far from shy when it’s time to take players on. He will add some flair to the Pirates midfield and with his sublime passing, will be cutting through defences.
Siphesihle Ndlovu – 22 years old (Maritzburg United to Orlando Pirates)
Another player to make his Bafana debut last year. The attacking midfielder was voted as the 2017/2018 Midfielder of the Season, and grabbed the Young Player of the Year award along with it. Pirates will be spoilt for choice this season in the midfield, giving Coach Rhulani and Sredojevic a healthy selection problem. This trade could turn out to be the best of this window, seeing as Ndlovu is already an established player in the league, being only 22.
Gabadinho Mhango – 26 (Bidvest WITS to Orlando Pirates)
The Malawian striker has been hot and cold for The Clever Boys but to deny his quality, you would be doing so at your peril. Known to pop up with a cracker or two, his goal scoring record is in the upper echelon in the league. A strong, quick, and intelligent player who will be drooling at the prospect of playing with his new midfield. We see him making a big impact, especially in important fixtures.
Rodney Ramagalela – 30 (Polokwane City to Highlands Park)
The man who was previously the leading goal scorer in the league along with Percy Tau. That was only two seasons ago. Under Owen De Gama and his system, Ramagalela will look to flourish alongside top-class striking partner, Tendai Ndoro. Both men have an eye for goal and will undoubtedly be the bulk of opposition team’s team-talks.
Mauricio Affonso – 26 (Alianza Lima [Peru] to Mamelodi Sundowns)
Pitso has pulled in another South American player to his impressive squad. The Uruguayan, Affonso, plays up front and was involved in every third goal scored for his Peruvian club, Alianza Lima. We don’t know too much about the striker, but with Coach Mosimane’s signing record, we are anxious to see how this unfolds.
Lazarous Kambole – 25 (ZESCO United [Zambia] to Kaizer Chiefs)
Six goals in eight games in the 17/18 CAF Champions League. The Zambian has goals in his DNA. Lots of chat can be made that the league that he was playing at in Zambia was not strong enough, but he has silenced those critics with his exploits in the Champions League. Kaizer Cheifs signings are always an interesting one due to their massive support a . The strong survive and the weak disintegrate. It’s going to be fun to see what Kambole is made of.
