Romain Folz is again without a club after being sacked by Horoya AC.
The 33-year-old coach was introduced to South African football fans when he took over at Maruno Gallants in 2022.
He lasted just six games in charge of the team before resigning. Folz was set to be demoted to assistant coach with Gallants, but he opted to leave the club instead.
But AmaZulu were quick to snap up the Frenchman, where he lasted marginally longer before being redeployed as technical director – largely to ensure he didn’t claim a massive payout – having only just signed a three-year contract extension before a change of heart from management.

Folz ended up with Guinea Ligue 1 Pro Horoya but was dismissed following the club’s elimination from the CAF Champions League.
Horoya lost 4-3 to Medeama on aggregate over two legs.
iDiski Times reported: “Horoya AC have bid the 33-year-old French/Moroccan mentor farewell just a mere month on the job, even though he had inked a two-year contract with the Guinean giants.
“This happened after Horoya management were left unhappy with the team bowing out in the qualifying stages of the Caf Champions League.”
