Chelsea scored an injury time equalizer to secure one point in Round 9 of the English Premier League against Manchester United.
Chelsea’s first goal came in the 21st minute when Paul Pogba failed to spot Antonio Rudiger’s run into the box after Willian’s corner kick. The German made no mistake to beat David De Gea.
The second half saw Anthony Martial silence the home crowd as he scored ten minutes into the half, after the ball gracefully fell to his feet in the box before he powered it past Kepa Arrizabalaga.
Juan Mata was instrumental in the Manchester United midfield as he broke down the right flank on a counter attack and fed the ball to Marcus Rashord, who played it down to Martial, and the Frenchman tee’d up a sensational right footed strike that left Kepa rooted, 2 – 1 advantage United.
A lengthy stoppage time was added to the match, and Ross Barkley scored the equalizer after David Luiz’ header met the posts, before Rudiger latched onto the rebound which De Gea saved, but the ball fell to Barkley who blasted home.
Mourinho Clash
The electric scenes saw Maurizio Sarri’s assistant Marco Ianni’s run past Jose Mourinho to celebrate the late winner in an unsportsmanlike manner.
Sarri apologized to Mourinho for Ianni’s actions, and later Ianni apologized to Mourinho. The United Coach says he accepts his apology and states that he also has made bad decisions in the past.
