The Premier League is back this weekend. Desh Parthab takes a look five players who could light up proceedings including Leandro Trossard of Brighton, Reiss Nelson of Arsenal and more!
The penultimate fixture round-up is upon us, before the Premier League steps aside for the World Cup to take centre stage. Following back-to-back league wins, Leicester slumped when the Premier League champions came to town, with multi-award winning, record-breaking UK rapper and songwriter Stormzy in attendance at the King Power.
Brighton welcomed former manager Graham Potter with open arms – handing their former boss his first defeat in his 10th game in charge of Chelsea (across all competitions).
The Seagulls showed real intent during the opening exchanges, with Thiago Silva needing to make two clearances off the line on a day where his colleagues netted two own goals en route to their 4-1 drilling.
Fellow London outfit Tottenham Hotspur can puff their cheeks, having gone 2-0 down to win 3-2 against a resilient Bournemouth.
Diego Costa saw red on his fifth league start for his new employers, meaning the forward’s next eligible league fixture comes after the World Cup. Virgil van Dijk’s undefeated reign in the league at Anfield ended, 70 fixtures in. The Merseyside outfit were handed a 2-1 defeat by lowly Leeds, with the Reds now eight points off the top four.
Awoniyi coming right at Forest
Taiwo Awoniyi has returned two goals across his previous three home league appearances for Nottingham Forest. During that period, the forward attempted 7 shots, hitting the woodwork once and missing two big chances. Steve Cooper’s chargers welcome a Brentford side who have conceded 4+ goals in back-to-back away league fixtures.

Trossard shining on the big occasions
Leandro Trossard could step up for the Seagulls this weekend. The Brighton hotshot seems to come up with the goods on big occasions. Across his previous six league appearances, Trossard has netted five goals. This included a hat-trick against Liverpool at Anfield. He followed that up with lethal strikes against Manchester City and Chelsea respectively. During that run, the Belgian attempted 21 shots, missing three big chances and hitting the woodwork once.

Nelson back in the mix at Arsenal
Reiss Nelson walked off the pitch with two goals and an assist last time out. The 22-year-old scored twice in two minutes before teeing up teammate Thomas Partey who slotted their fourth of the afternoon. That sort of performance is bound to be rewarded in Arteta’s team and, I can see him getting a run out against Chelsea this weekend. The academy graduate has largely been confined to Europa League action for the Gunners, but that could change if he continues to perform at current levels.
A special moment for one of our own ❤️

Cherries want Moore of the same from Kieffer
Kieffer Moore bagged three goals from just four shots on target in the English top flight. The Bournemouth forward netted two of those goals on either side of the half time whilst, last time out. Moore has been limited to just four appearances this season but is tipped to get a run out this weekend. The Cherries have lost their previous three league outings, winning just one of their previous seven. With just 2 games to go before the World Cup, I think Gary O’Neil will fire up his chargers and Moore could be the one.

Harry to do it on his own against Liverpool?
Harry Kane could prove the difference when Spurs host Liverpool in the weekend’s final fixture. The dangerman has already netted two winners (vs Wolves and Brighton respectively) and bagged a goal deep into added time against Chelsea, securing a point for the Lilywhites. The Englishman has bagged three goals and an assist across his previous three home league appearances. With Son being ruled out of this clash through injury, this could be a solo mission.
