The best Women’s club sides in Southern Africa will clash at the Sugar Ray Xulu and Princess Magogo Stadiums in eThekwini over the next two weeks in the COSAFA Women’s Champions League.

The tournament will act as a qualifier with the winner going on the represent the COSAFA Region at the CAF Women’s Champions which take place in November in Cote d’Ivoire.

Already qualified for November’s showpiece event are Athlético FC d’Abidjan (Cote d’Ivoire), AS FAR (Morocco), SC Casablanca (Morocco), AS Mandé (Mali) and JKT Queens (Tanzania).

Sundowns Ladies are favourites to qualify from the COSAFA region, however, the Banyana Ba Style haven’t quite been the all-dominating force we’ve become used to in the Hollywoodbets Super League this season. They also lost in the final of this tournament last year against Green Buffaloes of Zambia.

Having won the previous edition of the CAF Champions League, Sundowns had an automatic entry into the 2022 edition. However, no such luxury exists this time around. Jerry Tshabalala and his team will know that any slip-ups here could prove disastrous.
