The Hollywoodbets Super League returns with mid-week action this week after an intense weekend that saw reigning champions, Mamelodi Sundowns Ladies, lose for the second time this season.

At the same time, TUT caught up with JVW after they failed to capitalise on Sundowns’ result. At the bottom of the table, Vasco Da Gama finally showed real grit to grab their first win in weeks, and it was a happy outing for City Lads too. Mcebo Mpungose previews Wednesday’s fixtures.

Wednesday 28 September

Durban Ladies 9/10 | Draw 22/10 | Vasco Da Gama 28/10 (13:00)

The action kicks off with Durban Ladies hosting Vasco Da Gama after a run of four games without a win. They managed to nick a point off Coal City Wizards in their previous match, but Durban Ladies have been slowly slipping down the table with uninspiring, low-scoring games. They are currently averaging a single goal per match. Vasco Da Gama, who are three positions below them, have had just four wins all season but have slightly scored more goals. While they have also won just one game in their last four games, their 4-1 win against Golden Ladies will be a morale booster.
Tough one to call, so I will go with a double chance here: Draw, or Vasco Da Gama win at 74/100.

Coal City Wizards 1/1 | Draw 21/10 | City Lads 5/2 (13:00)

These sides meet on the back of collecting points in their previous games. Coal City Wizards walked away with a point against Durban Ladies, while City Lads piled more pressure on First Touch by taking all three points against them. Both these sides are in the bottom half of the table, separated by just a point. The win will bring back the City Lads team’s confidence after losing 9-1 to JVW just over a week ago, while City Wizards have managed to win just once in their last four fixtures. I’m tipping the visiting side to win here.

Richmond United 16/10 | Draw 2/1 | Bloemfontein Celtic 16/10 (15:00)

The home side has won three and lost once in their last four fixtures, scoring nine goals in the process. After such good results, Richmond find themselves in the top eight. In position five, Bloemfontein Celtic have been in good form, collecting seven points in their last three games. It should be an exciting watch. I’m on the double chance: draw or Richmond win at 4/10.

Sundowns Ladies 1/7 | 6/1 Draw | Thunderbirds 11/1 (15:00)

The reigning champions take on a Thunderbirds side that hasn’t tasted victory in the last three games. This game presents a great opportunity for Masandawana to get back to winning ways after losing the Tshwane derby to TUT FC on Sunday. Playing at home against a side with a leaky defence, Sundowns players will look forward to this one to solidify their position at the top. Sundowns are tipped to get back to winning ways.

Ma-Indies 1/5 | Draw 9/2 | Tsunami Queens 10/1 (15:00)

Ma-Indies have had mixed results in their last four fixtures, getting two draws, a win, and a loss. On the other hand, Tsunami Queens have only managed to draw once and lose two in their last three games, so on form, these sides are relatively evenly matched. However, Ma-Indies have won ten games all season, while Tsunami Queens have only won once. Ma-Indies should win here.

Golden Ladies 9/1 | Draw 4/1 | University of JHB 1/4 (15:00)

Golden Ladies are stuck on the foot of the table after a horrible run that has seen them win just one game in 21 matches. They have the worst defence in the league, conceding 78 goals, while there isn’t much being offered by their attack either with the second lowest goals total in the division. They got their first victory two games ago and followed it up with a 4-1 loss. They host a UJ side that has picked up seven points in the last four games. UJ should cruise to victory here.

First Touch 5/1 | Draw 28/10 | UWC 5/10 (15:00)

After defeating Bloemfontein Celtic back in mid-August, UWC have since drawn three on the bounce, slightly falling off in the title conversation. They can still finish strong, however. That begins with this tie against 11th-placed First Touch, who aren’t exactly easy opposition. In their last three games, First Touch has won two and lost once. Their loss came against City Lads. UWC boasts a better squad and should finally have enough to get all three points here.

JVW 1/1 | Draw 21/10 | TUT FC 5/2 (18:00)

JVW are on a fine run of form as they look to haul Sundowns in, collecting three wins and a draw in their previous games. JVW’s form has seen them cement their position behind Sundowns at the top of the table. They face a TUT side that threatens to overtake them should they win this game. TUT managed to go level on points with JVW after winning against Sundowns, becoming only the second team to take all three points against the reigning champions this season. JVW has the better goal-scoring ability and will look to take the game to TUT. I’m backing a win for the home side.
