In the final round of CAF Champions League group stage fixtures Wydad and Simba were both in contention to qualify for the competition’s knockout stages.

With an inferior goal difference, Wydad needed a win and hoped that Simba would drop points in the alternate fixture against Galaxy.

Defender Badr Gaddarine scored a controversial goal just before the half-time break where he ran through on goal unopposed with question marks also being raised over goalkeeper Goitseone Phoko’s half-attempt at making a save.

To compound matters, Simba secured a huge 6-0 win to secure their passage to the knockout stages.

Both results will spark accusations of match-fixing against both teams with clear instances of bringing the game into disrepute.
