Sebastien Haller found a 66th minute equaliser for the Elephants at Stade Felix Houphouet-Boigny after Themba Zwane had handed Bafana Bafana a nine minute lead.

This match comes on the back of a 1-1 draw with Morocco and Gasset said that while his side was tired in their match with South Africa, he was nonetheless pleased with their second-half fightback.

Gasset said on Sport-Ivoire: “If we are postive, we tell ourselves that we were tired after the Morocco match.

“And this was seen with players who had heavy legs. But the fact of coming back in the second-half is a good thing.

“Mentally, my team did not give up. She was led but she refused defeat, she even banished it from her mind. We had heavy legs, but I saw players who were allergic to defeat.”
