Despite a strong performance, Bafana Bafana were forced to settle for a 1-1 draw on Thursday night.

Under the guidance of coach Hugo Broos, Bafana entered the match with several changes from their previous encounter against the Democratic Republic of Congo. Nkosinathi Sibisi and Thapelo Morena were among the few players maintaining their starting positions.

Andorra, despite a goal drought in their previous six matches, seized an early lead just six minutes into the game. A crucial error by goalkeeper Ricardo Goss allowed Ricard Fernandez to capitalise and find the back of the net.

However, Bafana quickly responded, showcasing dominance throughout the first half. Elias Mokwana’s deflected shot secured the equaliser, marking his debut goal for the national team.

Despite their dominance, Bafana failed to capitalise further on their chances, entering half-time with a 1-1 deadlock.

The team’s persistence continued into the second half, with Patrick Maswanganyi denied a potential lead by Andorra’s goalkeeper, Josep Gomes.

Coach Broos introduced Grant Margeman and made further tactical adjustments in the second half. However, despite their efforts, Bafana couldn’t find the decisive goal, with Maswanganyi’s header saved on the line.

The draw leaves Bafana with lessons to learn as they prepare for their upcoming clash against hosts Algeria on Tuesday.

While disappointed with the result, the team’s performance showcased promise for future matches under Broos’ guidance.
