Gameweek 14 of the Spanish La Liga sees Barcelona at the summit of the table following their 4-0 trouncing of Real Sociedad – their sixth successive win in all competitions. The La Liga champions will face a tricky fixture against managerless Valencia at the Mestalla Stadium with Los Che unbeaten at home in their last 18 league matches. Real Madrid will return to the Santiago Bernabeu for the first time since losing 4-0 to Barcelona. Los Blancos will be looking to build on their victory over Eibar when they host Getafe in La Liga’s opening matchup. Second-place Atletico Madrid will travel to Granada expecting to pick up maximum points while last weekend’s hat-trick hero Aritz Aduriz will be hoping to inspire Athletic Bilbao to victory against bottom-of-the-log Malaga.

SATURDAY 5 DECEMBER

Real Madrid 1/11
Draw 9/1
Getafe 23/1
Real Madrid secured a 2-0 victory over Eibar last weekend to move within six points of leaders Barcelona. Los Blancos will return to the Santiago Bernabeu hoping to return to winning ways after their 4-0 trouncing of Barcelona last time out. Rafa Benitez’s side have won four of their six home matches and will expect to claim maximum points against Getafe this weekend or lose further ground to the La Liga champions. Getafe come off a 2-0 win over Villarreal which was their first victory in their last five games. With the likes of Cristiano Ronaldo, Gareth Bale and Karim Benzema in attack, Los Blancos should cause the opposition defence all kinds of problems. Take Real Madrid To Score In Both Halves at 9/20.

Granada 52/10
Draw 26/10
Atletico Madrid 6/10
Atletico Madrid consolidated second place in La Liga and kept on leaders Barcelona’s coattails with yet another 1-0 win, this time over Espanyol, at the Vicente Calderon. This type of match is becoming a familiar tale for Los Rojiblancos this season, with Diego Simeone’s side dominating play, possession and territory only to find themselves incapable of scoring a second to put themselves and the fans at ease. Atletico have now won five on the spin in all competitions without conceding a goal. Rojiblancos are unbeaten in their last seven league encounters with five wins and four clean sheets. Worryingly for Simeone is that he will be without midfielder Tiago Mendes for the remainder of the season after the Portuguese suffered a broken tibia against Espanyol. Late goals from Youssef El Arabi and Ruben Rochina rescued a point for Granada as they drew 2-2 against Malaga. The Nazaries have only won twice from 13 matches with six losses. Antoine Griezmann has been in top form for Atleti with 10 goals in all competitions. The Frenchman could be a menace to Jose Sandoval’s side this weekend. Back the away team at 6/10.

Valencia 15/2
Draw 9/2
Barcelona 3/10

Deportivo La Coruna 19/10
Draw 5/2
Sevilla 13/10
Sergio Escudero scored the only goal of the game on his debut as Sevilla edged out nine-man Valencia at the Sanchez Pizjuan in La Liga last Sunday. The win moved them into the top half of the table – one point behind Los Che, who are ninth. Unai Emery’s men will be hoping to build on that result in a bid to climb up the La Liga standings. Los Rojiblancos have a good record against Deportivo with five wins from their last eight meetings with just one defeat. However, Victor Sanchez’s side are in better form and are unbeaten in their last four home matches. Deportivo ousted Las Palmas 2-0 last weekend and I’m tipping them to earn a point at 5/2.

Betis 23/10
Draw 26/10
Celta Vigo 11/10
Fourth-place Celta Vigo returned to winning ways last weekend thanks to an 84th-minute goal from Nolito to guide the Sky Blues to a 2-1 win over Sporting Gijon. Coach Eduardo Berizzo would have been pleased with the performance and will be confident his side can come away with a positive result. Betis have lost their last four home matches in the league which does not bode well for their chances. Celta Vigo have won the last two meetings against Betis and are worth a punt at even money.

SUNDAY 6 DECEMBER

Real Sociedad 17/20
Draw 24/10
Eibar 34/10
Real Sociedad were thrashed 4-0 by a rampant Barcelona side last time out and manager Eusebio Sacristan will be hoping his side recover quickly. Eusebio is searching for his first win in charge of the club, and will be optimistic of doing so against Eibar. Armeros are winless in their last two matches having drawn at Villarreal before going down 2-0 to Real Madrid last weekend. Eibar have lost just once away from home this season which was against Barcelona. They are tipped on the Win/Draw Double at 17/20.

Villarreal 11/20
Draw 31/10
Rayo Vallecano 47/10
Villarreal went down 2-0 to Getafe last weekend which now sees them winless in their last three matches. The Yellow Submarine have been good at home with four wins from six matches, losing just once to Celta Vigo. Rayo Vallecano were on the receiving end of an Aduriz master class as the Athletic Bilbao striker scored a hat-trick in a 3-0 victory. Los Vallecanos will be hoping to bounce back from that defeat, but their away form is a major concern for Paco Jemez. Rayo Vallecano are without an away win in their last four games with three defeats. Back Villarreal to make home advantage count at 11/20.

Sporting Gijon 14/10
Draw 9/4
Las Palmas 23/10
It’s now three straight losses for Sporting Gijon following their 2-1 defeat at Celta Vigo last time out. The newly-promoted side are struggling to compete in the Primera Division and results will need to improve if they want to stay up. Gijon have won just once at home this season with three defeats from six matches. Luckily for coach Abelardo Fernandez, this weekend’s opponents are even worse off. Relegation-threatened Las Palmas are yet to win a match on the road with four losses from six games. Under 2.5 Goals is the way to go at 7/10.

Athletic Bilbao 5/10
Draw 31/10
Malaga 11/2
Aritz Aduriz scored a hat-trick as Athletic Bilbao overcame Rayo Vallecano 3-0 last Sunday. The Lions will return to San Mames where they’ve won three on the trot against Valencia, Sporting Gijon and Espanyol. Coach Ernesto Valverde will look to the form of Aduriz to inspire Bilbao to victory this weekend. The 34-year-old currently has 10 league goals to his name – more than Ronaldo, Griezmann and Benzema. Bottom-dwellers Malaga are without a win in their last four games with three defeats. The home win is a banker bet at 5/10.

MONDAY 7 DECEMBER

Espanyol 1/1
Draw 23/10
Levante 3/1
Espanyol will be looking to bounce back from their 1-0 defeat at Atletico Madrid last weekend. Sergio Gonzalez’s side will be hoping to find the same kind of form that saw them oust Malaga 2-0 in their last home game. Levante are 19th on the table and come off a 1-0 defeat against Real Betis. The Frogs have won just once in their last six matches with four defeats. Espanyol won the corresponding fixture 2-1 last season and I’m tipping them to repeat that feat.
