Grobler has made some important goal contributions for Matsatsantsa this season and has registered nine goals with one assist in 23 appearances across all competitions so far this season.

Alongside his goals, the 36-year-old has taken up a leadership role in the dressing room alongside other experienced campaigners, Thulani Hlathswayo and Onismor Bhasera, to guide emerging talents such as Shandre Campbell.

“We talk a lot about young players, but sometimes we need to give the older players a bit of credit as well, Hunt said.

“What they go through week in and week out and he’s had some big injuries, and he’s kept going and still scoring.

“So, these older players, sometimes they get forgotten about, but we need to be very careful to not throw them away too quickly.

“The age is not a problem, as long as they can keep doing the job, and he’s certainly doing that.

“He got a goal last week, possibly should have had another one and he’ll certainly play a big part for us going forward.

“He’s doing a good job in leading the players like all of them are. Like your Bhasera’s, your Tyson’s are. These are the older guys and they’re playing a big part in helping me and helping the club.”

SuperSport garnered a tag in recent years as cup specialists after an incredible recent run in tournaments, including the Nedbank Cup.

Supersport United celebrate their win during the 2017 Nedbank Cup Final.

That includes lifting the winning the Carling Knockout in the 2014/15 season. Winning back-to-back Nedbank Cup titles the following campaign in 2015/16 and 2016/17. While also reaching the Carling Knockout final again in 16/17. Before remarkably reaching three consecutive MTN8 finals, winning two out of three titles in the 17/18; 18/19 and 2019/20 campaigns.

Hunt will be aiming to restore his side’s tag as serial trophy winners even though possessing a younger squad than in recent years.
