The SuperSport United mentor, who has been coaching for close to three decades, has pointed out respect as one of the principles that coaches should live by in professional football.

Mokwena and Ramovic have had a heated exchange of words through press conferences over the past few months, and in their last encounter at the Mbombela Stadium, their feud took a chaotic turn after an action-packed draw.

“When you go and do your coaching licence, there are certain ethics and respect. I don’t have to be on your Christmas card list, and you don’t have to be on mine, but you can have a certain amount of respect and you cannot let that go off the field,” said Hunt.

“There is a code of conduct and a code of ethics in the business that needs to happen. Jose Mourinho might not like Pep Guardiola, and these guys are at that level, but there is a certain level of respect.

“I think the league should get involved, something should happen here. You can’t just let these things go like it has been going because it is a reflection on your sponsorships. It does not look like either of them is going to give in.

“There is nothing wrong with having a rivalry and you don’t even have to shake hands or talk, but there’s got to be respect around these things and I think they need to sort it out and get into a room if they can. I don’t think it’ll happen because it has gone a bit too far now,” Hunt concluded.

Following the chaotic scenes at the Mbombela Stadium, Mokwena went on to describe that game as “the worst match he has ever been involved in”. Ramovic took a swipe of his own, saying Sundowns would need to buy Lionel Messi, Cristiano Ronaldo and Kylian Mbappe if they wanted to beat his Galaxy outfit.
